Yes, she seems to have really embraced the Trump style. It still is the current fad in right wing politics because it seems to work, of course until it doesn't.

However, I feel voters are starting to tire a bit of all this excess and needless conflict, it is exhausting.
 
As reported by Rob Breakenridge, Premier Smith said that “creating our own Alberta version of supply management, maybe as a pathway to a market system and maybe just because it would stick our finger in the eye of Quebec ... might be (something) we want to do a little consultation on”.

Coming on top of her demanding an apology from Jasper for stating the truth, one has to wonder how petty can she and her government get? I can well imagine her outraged response if Quebec announced the potential adoption of a new policy “simply to stick a finger in the eye of Alberta”.

How embarrassing.

Supply management is what prevents Canadian ag industry from getting crushed by international supply chains. A rural Albertan farmer will never, under any circumstance, produce a dozen eggs more cheaply than a competing farmer in Brazil.

Who is this policy possibly supposed to benefit? Or is it just more inflammatory nonsense to distract from the Province failing in their basic responsibilities?

I was not posting in support of supply management.

I was posting about the folly of our premier saying she would be prepared to consider a policy - any policy - "just because it would stick our finger in the eye of Quebec".

It is, as you note, just more inflammatory nonsense to distract from the Province failing in their basic responsibilities.

I believe most of the dairy and eggs consumed in Alberta is probably coming from Alberta farms or elsewhere nearby in the west, so bring up Quebec is misdirection and a distraction.

Probably many of those Alberta farmers supported the UCP, maybe they will reconsider that if she wants to fiddle around with supply management.

It makes sense for the Alberta Party to become the PC party instead. As the article stated some former PC's went over to the Alberta Party and it probably is closest to what the PC's were.

I also feel its hard for the UCP to argue about goodwill from a name they really avoid using anymore. Its basically just a way to try restrict or keep anyone else from doing so.

Yep, so $143 million less for new hospitals and health care, schools or municipal funding. In case Albertans wonder why our government services are getting so bad, this is part of the reason.

Probably. But the numbers could be worse.

The easiest comparison would be BCs 37 million, used for grants similar to the allocation (36.1M) described in this article.
