The side of the heritage facade has to be a solid surface - otherwise it would destabilize the appearance of the facade - it would look like it is freestanding at the sidewalk - making the facadism even more apparent.

Exactly. Well put.

Such an idea could work well but using solid filler makes the "heritage facade" seem more stand-alone. Pedestrians won't be as tuned in to how it is part of the tower and even if they are, it will look more cohesive to them.

Though if one were to split hairs, I'm not sure how much more authentic a "fake building retention" is than a freestanding facade...

as posted by Spectator77 at SSC...the lobby, looking north from the southeast corner....

looks very much like the lobby at fcp. that's not a bad thing though.

Are those lobby escalators/stairs there for access to PATH?

All the hording is gone now and getting close.

You can see the base of the false front now as well the full side.

Thanks drum and wylie for the pics. I actually like the facade. And the building as a whole looks good too. They don't look too mish-mashy right beside each other.

The more I see them together the more I start to see BAC as Scotia Plaza's bratty little brother.

It does seem fitting, but there's only a small window of time left in which BA will be making reflections of Scotia Plaza.
