I will not be renewing my season tickets if they decide to build on the reserve, or even if they decide to not build along a C-train line. Im not driving all the way out there 41+ times per year.

The wealthy population they mostly care about live in the inner SW, NW, Springbank and Bearspaw. That segment of the population is used to driving a good distance to games so unfortunately I doubt they’d have any problem selling seats in this location. The NE, SE, downtown and transit savvy residents would be the losers in this situation.

Well, seeing how CSEC are determined to have someone else pay for their arena, I would be amazed if there is any truth to putting the new arena on Tsuu t'ina land.
An arena would have to make some of the taza development much more valuable. The needed boost to make it make sense would need to be in the $15 million+ a year.

Could a new casino integrated into an arena do that? Raise the casino take while boosting surrounding retail, office and the like?

Maybe the numbers would work. Right now the extra take returned to First Nations from on reserve gaming is over $100 million a year —over and above the standard ‘house take’.

As for visitation - what produces more visitors: Costco on a full Saturday or an arena 🤣

Whatever the case may be, if it's out at Tsuu t'ina land I doubt I'll be going there very often. Nothing against the Nation, but it's just not something I'd be interested in doing. For me personally, going to concerts/games in the core also adds an urban experience on top of the event itself. If it was out in the country somewhere, I'd rather save the gas money and just watch on TV.

I can't picture it going into that area as there is next to no public transit to that area, certainly no CTrains. I know alot of people (myself included) don't want to have to worry about taking their cars to concerts/games.

Picking this back up... The city's investigation of other potential partners to help build a new arena and specifically the report on the findings is expected to return to council in March. Do we have any further clarity on when in March we're going to get this report?
Seems that an in camera meeting is happening today. What, if any, new information is to be publicly shared, we shall have wait to see.
