I can see them adding a Hong Kong flight
The turn is too long- would require a frame for a 3 a week schedule.

Westjet is only flying at this point to in and out in 24 hours destinations. Requires a bit more logistics and time in the ground to go much further.

Wonder how close or far we are from getting a non-WestJet Asian flight to Calgary. Especially a Skyteam partner that will have good connectivity.

March numbers are out. A 1.4% increase over last year. It's not much of an increase, but decent for the time of year.

Still behind 2019 for the three months, but ahead of 2023 numbers, and 2023 overall is the record. Last year the summer months crushed 2019's summer numbers, it'll be interesting to see how it is this year.

WestJet Link will be shutting down as of October 26th 2024, the agreement with Pasco ends and its not being renewed. All routes (YXL, YXC, YXH) will be transferred to Encore which is a substantial up gauging, unclear as if flight crews will be transferred over as well.

Slight drop over April last year due to a drop in domestic. Huge bump in International travel.

Wonder how much of the domestic drop is due to Lynx air being gone. They were probably carrying 15-30K per month through Calgary. and being so much cheaper than the competitors probably induced a bit of demand that didn't continue to other airlines now.

That's what I was thinking. There's a base demand for domestic travel, but something like Lynx with super cheap prices might induce travel that wouldn't normally happen.

The important thing is to see those international numbers continue to increase. It shows Westjet's international expansion out of Calgary is working, and we might see even more international destinations (or at a minimum, frequency increases) if the numbers keep going up.

I’m not sure the additional of Seoul will make a difference. WS only has 7 789’s and last year they mostly went out full. Seoul is just replacing the Cancelled LGW flights and that lift just got moved to other routes. Only way numbers will up this summer is if they expand 737 routes (ie get more frames and pilots). Hope they decide on more Dreamliners in the future (New, used or leased)
