Disappointing how Vancouver opted out and it is now being reported by the inside soccer people there that Vancouver is getting six games, and Toronto the other four.

Interesting how so much info is coming out about Canada regarding tomorrow's announcement and nothing from the other two countries.

Why would Edmonton have the city manager and mayor at a reveal party if the city's (reportedly) not getting any games? That just doesn't add up

Well the city has invested a lot of time and money into this bid. They have to be present and available for the decision and then respond accordingly. Also, it should be a celebration for that entire bid team either way and they deserve to come together and be proud of what they put forward on behalf of the City of Edmonton.

Gotta wonder if Edmonton ever really had a chance. And probably no surprise that Van is taking more games than Toronto

From a US analyst.

"What to know: Vancouver was out of the race for years, because British Columbia’s provincial legislature refused to provide funding. But even when FIFA said the door was shut, everyone knew it wasn’t really. Concacaf president and FIFA vice president Victor Montagliani is from there, as is Canada’s chief 2026 organizer Peter Montopoli. They always wanted Vancouver in, and a few months ago the right people said yes."

It seems to me that Edmonton gets asked when the going gets tough. Case in point, the NHL playoff bubble in 2020

We’ll get some random friendly or future qualifying game when Soccer Canada needs a Canadian city to step up and purchase 50,000 tickets and knows no one else can or will.
Honestly, should we even take those? If Canada's soccer officials are helping to burry us instead of fighting for us, maybe that's a sign we should just shun them and move on, instead of taking whatever scraps get thrown our way like we're a second-rate city. They don't deserve our money, full stop.
