You can really see the podium taking shape now!

Ever since these first got proposed they have given me major Netherlands vibes. There's nothing else quite like it in Canada, and that's something we desperately need in this city. These are going to be so impactful, and after seeing the tower in The Hague this year as a teaser... these are going to be pretty damn iconic.
I kind of assumed the parking garage would be a big rectangle below the podiums, but maybe not.
Nope! The parking levels will follow the shape of the podiums to avoid the CSST that runs below grade here. The north side of the podiums also follows the alignment of the old Wellington Street as a bit of a nod to the historical past of the site.I kind of assumed the parking garage would be a big rectangle below the podiums, but maybe not.
When this was revealed as the winning design, I was mostly disappointed that it didn't integrate with Pimisi and cover the portal, but now I'm excited about the plaza, the highly articulated podiums with retail and of course the tall red towers. These will have such a positive impact in s very drab and flat skyline.
You definitely can upload videos but I think you need to use something like Imgur.I took the o-train today after it had been closed for 2 weeks, and when passing Pimisi I got a good look at the construction site, which is dramatically different since the last time I passed by (No photos tho, sorry! I'll be back on the train tomorrow and maybe I can see if I can get some photos or videos (can we upload videos here?)). They are in fact building up a big retaining wall with massive stone blocks, starting from Pimisi station and working towards the tunnel. There was also a lot of excavation to the point they were essentially level with the height of the train, and there were a number of big metal rods sticking up out of the ground (forgive my lack of engineering/architectural knowledge).
My bet is the tracks get covered in 10-20 years time including the Scott trench. II would love to see a super long linear sports park, slap in basketball, soccer, tennis, pickleball in big pockets down the length.Yeah, really wish they'd cover the O-Train Line through the Flats, and Scott.
Obligatory post every 6 months, when RVL proposed the library at this site, they wanted to cover the tracks with a park:
