Since "wins" are less significant now, it would be fun to see a "kid" line on the Oilers go up against the Avalanche -- it would be an "energy" (Oilers) against a "play-it-safe" (Avalanche) game that if nothing else would be fun to watch. It would also give the Oilers a chance to strategize round 1, rest McDavid, Nuge, and others key to a deep-into-the-playoffs run with healthy players. I know this is contra to my don't-shuffle-lines comments -- at this point in the season that no longer matters.

Worst-case scenario: The Oilers could drop to WC2 and meet Colorado in the first round.

With the shootout loss, the Oilers probably won't have opportunity to rest any key players in their final game of the year as they will need that win for a chance at home ice advantage in first round.
If we lose last game, there is a chance the Oilers could finish in the last Wildcard spot, meaning they would face the Avalanche in 1st Round.

I understand not wanting to play them out of boredom and wanting a change, but from a team success POV, they're the best matchup for us. They have a dismal -19 goal differential and demons up and down from losing to us 4 times. They're our best shot at second round hockey.
