The fact we're reaching 50% and above already for some months this year when it comes to unit growth in redeveloping areas is amazing, especially since it's only year 2 of the zoning bylaw reform.
We fortunately did not elect a regressive council - shows developers that they can expect continued stability. There are some slight obstacles like design standards in the pipeline, but we're still one of (if not the single) most attractive markets to build in. Calgary deliberating a full ZBL repeal will draw even more business up here.
 
I wish Edmonton had a developer like Truman. They're doing so many high-quality projects in Calgary, and it would be great if a local big developer here could raise the bar a little in terms of quality architecture and design.
 
Government of Ontario has taken control of RECO in response to the iPro scandal. With the Drinkwater case and others in AB, I wouldn't be surprised if the Premier was eyeing taking control of RECA.
 
What is RECO and RECA
Sorry, forgot that the field has entirely too many acronyms. the Real Estate Council of Ontario and the Real Estate Council of Alberta. They are (were) industry-led arms-length regulators operating on behalf of the province to ensure consumer protections in real estate transactions.

They're somewhat bad at their jobs, but it's an important niche.
