What construction wrapping up is Bettman referring to? the Food hall? CWB tower? I am genuinely curious. This excuse has been used since Rogers Place opened.

I'd bet CWB, new food/bev leases where Rexall was, Singer open, food hall at least partially done and an overall improvement of the Downtown experience for visitors.

The City of Calgary has signed a deal paving the way for construction of a new arena.
The City of Calgary has reached agreements, in principle, with the province, Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC) and Calgary Stampede to proceed forward with the creation of the Culture + Entertainment District in downtown Calgary, including a new and publicly-owned event centre.
The deal is valued at $1.2 billion
The City of Calgary is contributing 44 per cent, or $537.3 million, and 56 per cent is being contributed by both the province ($330 million) and Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation ($356 million).

But, but, but Her "Worshipfulness" claims that the Province is NOT directly funding the new barn but only indirectly paying for the price of the Land, utilities. C-train and whatever else the ownership group and Edwards don't want to pay for. What a joke! Well there you have it folks, she officially bought every vote of the entire City of Cows with this promise............

Ah yes, Danielle Smith was famously opposed to provincial tax dollars supporting the Edmonton arena deal, but has no qualms showering $330 million in provincial dollars on the Flames as an election bribe. Classic "say anything" Dani.
