Now that I've got a good look at the station, it's safe to say that if we wanted to build a commuter rail connection from the CN mainline to downtown, it'll be nearly impossible now. The station has eaten through most of the ROW.

Because that would constrain the speeds of commuter trains. The LRT goes 70 max, but ideally, a commuter train should go 100, maybe even 110, like GO Transit.

Then lets hope the City Planners have determined that the Stadium area ROW can accommodate another track after the station improvements.

Something like that. Before it was closed off, they were installing all kinds of cable trays and conduit, and i saw then wheeling in what looked to me like server racks (although i only really recognize those from TV, but like, big metal cabinet things). the new station has an access to the lower level tucked into the West platform buildings, and it looks to me like they might actually be keeping the original East entrance. there's work going on there that looks like it may remain in place.

If they are going to use it for operations they will need two exits otherwise you would to follow tight regulations for operating in an enclosed space.

Great pic! I wish we used more wood on structures . It gives such a nice natural warmth and it looks 1000x better than cultured stone or fake brick veneer, which seems to be heavily favoured by local developers.
