The Finch West LRT needs to be extended to Yonge as soon as possible. When FWLRT opens, anyone wishing to travel east of Keele will need to transfer to the Finch bus travel their journey. That is very inconvenient.
We already have a similar situation of that on a parallel corridor 2km away. TTC will say an express/rocket bus will do the job.
They need data of where the majority of the Finch West passengers are heading after they arrive at Finch station. If majority of them have destinations south of Eglinton, then extending FWLRT east to Finch would worsen the crowding on Yonge.

It won't have any noticeable effect on the Yonge crowding. Riders originating west of Keele, will transfer to the subway there if they want to go south.

Riders boarding between Keele and Yonge, already have a one-seat ride to both Finch and Finch West stations. Changing the vehicle type from bus to LRT won't change that.

Extending FWLRT to Finch will help riders going to North York, or Richmond Hill / Markham.

This isn’t a City project; however. It’s the latest chapter of the Finch West LRT construction project, which has been in the ground for many months, with a great deal of work underway. As of late January, 2018, in fact, Metrolinx had spent $236.3 million on the line, or approximately a fifth of the 2010 budget of $1.2 billion, according to agency spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins.
 
The Finch West LRT should be extended both west to the Pearson Transit Hub and east to the Finch Station at Yonge Street, as a phase two and three. Phase four should extend it further east to Don Mills and south to join up with the Sheppard East LRT, allowing for transfers with a combined Sheppard and Relief Line subway line.

A western extension of the Finch LRT would provide access to the redeveloped Woodbine Racetrack Lands, Malton GO and VIA station, the International Centre and the Pearson Transit Hub. It would also tie in nicely with the Eglinton West LRT line.
 
And then extend it to the Scarbrough Subway.

Not sure if that's intended as an actual proposal or as a joke, but in fact it is very reasonable. Continue on Finch East all the way to McCowan, then turn south and connect to the Scarbrough Subway terminus, whether it is at STC or at Sheppard. Another branch can go even further east and serve Malvern.

In the east, I'd rather stay on Finch and go even further than Don Mills, lots of riders originate from there.

A general rule is that consultant fees (design) are 10% of a project budget , and design would be essentially complete at this point.

Also, actual expenditure will be much higher than this ones "budget" as the budget is set in 2010 dollars, and actual expenditure will be in the dollars of the year it is spent.
 
I'm surprised they've already spent 20% of the budget, with almost no physical work yet completed.
They've done quite a bit of utility work, I remember two months ago when I was driving late one evening on Finch I was stuck in traffic for 30 minutes just west of Hwy 404 because they were doing some water main work for the LRT at Arrow Rd.
