Interesting for sure. I doubt we'll see much action until the ring road goes in, or is at least under construction, but I think it will be built either way at some point. Even in this downturned economy the location makes it viable.
Interesting announcement from the Tsuu T'ina Nation. They've added some detail to their development plans adjacent to the ring road.
They're proposing 3 new development areas which will focus on retail, commercial and hospitality. It isn't the most exciting plan, but honestly I think it's long past due that they persued development of this sort. I hope it works out well. I grew up on the west side of town and spent over a decade schooling within a few blocks of the reserve. It's like an entierly separate world; closed off and distant even though it's just right there. My biggest concern would be for managing the interaction with the nearby communities like Lake View and Oakridge, but hopefully the relationship leads to more constructive contact between the city and the nation rather than more conflict.
