Not sure if there's a thread or much knowledge on, but this building in Beltline (NW corner 11th Ave 10 St) is being torn down. Seen about a week ago demolition is well underway.

I have a feeling that the property owner is removing the building to save on insurance and security costs. A vacant building is an attractive spot for someone to break in and setup camp in. Same thing happened with that old gym around the corner on 12th Ave, and I expect Lacey court to be the next one to go after the fire.

Vic Park LRT station rebuild and 17th Ave extension are officially complete.

Between the trains and Macleod good luck driving into and out of Stampede Park from 17th. However, the walkability and simpler LRT Station are big wins for people. I'm okay with people and not cars winning this one.

MichaelS mentioned that the lot was purchased by Cidex. No DP has been submitted yet, so unfortunately it'll probably sit empty for a while.

Great for pedestrians, but I hadn't been in that area by car in quite a while until last week only to find that 17th has been turned into one way (west bound) between 1st & Macleod so you can't even drive east through there.

There's two lanes east across the tracks but the only traffic that can use that is a single lane turning right from northbound Macleod. Odd config.

Is that permanent or just a legacy of construction in the area? Seems really odd after all this effort if that's the final condition

I can't seem to find the email at the moment but I'm fairly certain one of the CMLC updates mentioned that section will be going back to two way now that the work is complete.

September 20-23 – 17 Ave S.E. returns to two-way traffic between 1 St and Macleod Trail S.E.

  • To enable construction on the extension and station project, the one-block stretch of 17 Ave S.E. between 1 St and Macleod Trail S.E. has operated as a one-way westbound road since 2021. Now, with the project nearing completion, the road will revert to its two-way condition.
  • 17 Ave S.E. in this block will be closed from 11:59 PM Friday, September 20 until 5 AM Monday, September 23 to enable crews to repaint road markings, change signage and restore parking to its original condition.
  • When it re-opens on September 23, 17 Ave S.E. in this block will once again operate as a two-way road.
