Milczyn has always been pro-Park Lawn GO. He even raised a motion in council (way back when) to relocate Mimico. That didn't go well with his council colleague.

But he is a MPP now, and guess who Metrolinx is more likely to listen to (over some local bit councillor?) - and we aren't talking about something as costly as tunneling Davenport (which lead to a Hail-Mary from the local MPP)

He has already stated support for Park Lawn. I think the idea here is to send a list of names and signatures to Metrolinx telling them that their planning people need to go back to school.

Low for ridership and connectivity? Only someone who has viewed the site from Google Maps could write something that stupid.

This is very true (in regards to Humber Loop), but Park Lawn GO is meant to go quite a way west of there..
Currently, they're looking at having the station straddle Legion on the west side and Park Lawn on the east side. That way you serve both communities. Humber Loop is too far east.
Aha -- if that's where it will go, then need to link the two stations with a high-order pedestrian route, and/or even consider relocating the Humber loop into a combined Park Lawn GO interchange station.

What will happen to this large disused building next to Park Lawn (Googling this, indicates this used to be Mr. Christie's Bakery). Development opportunity beckons here, including shorter walking routes, developments, etc. Research indicates 27 condos can be built on this site, which would certainly shift the Park Lawn "centre of gravity" much closer to the more western-location of the Park Lawn GO station.

This does not preclude the need to provide better pedestrian accessibility for eastern Park Lawn residents, which is currently abysmal.

Metrolinx is musing using some of the land for the GO station (parking structure, etc).

Currently owned by Mondelez - they were looking to upzone to 27 condo towers, but the city told them to get stuffed so the site is in limbo now. Zoned employment (as now) the site is next to worthless, but rezoned to redevelopment, the site is worth hundreds of millions.

However, there is no risk from the OMB as the site has been deemed provincially-sensitive due to the food terminal next door.

Thanks -- that's new info to me.
That would certainly fix a huge part of the Mimico parking problem.

Demolishing Christie's would provide more potential parking space than needed to even outnumber Oakville (if that was desired) and then some, and still leaving plenty of room to build condos. Hopefully no surface lots, just only dense parking garages -- maximizing mixed development potential. But we cannot forget walkability and streetcar connections.

Perhaps even a possible Humber Loop extension to maximize modal flexibility of Park Lawn GO (at the westward location). The original Humber Loop can remain a station, just that the 501 would pass through the rest of the way to very near Park Lawn GO. It's just approximately a ~600 meter streetcar extension (one stop extension), terminating as a loop north of QEW just east of Park Lawn Rd, a short ~75-100 meter walk to the Park Lawn GO station entrance, perhaps connected by an indoor underpass or an indoorized Park Lawn Rd sidewalk under QEW. For the streetcar ROW might need a tiny sliver of mostly vacant Food Terminal land only at the southwest corner, but it wouldn't need to be an expensive loop relocation with streetcar tracks between south of Food Terminal and north of QEW. Not sure if this is worth it yet considering the other streetcar just south of there (though much further of a walk) but might be during electrified ~10-minute GO RER service.

Hopefully the RER service pattern is structured in such a way that both Mimico and Park Lawn will be classified as "local stations", and will only be serviced by the abbreviated '416-centric' RER route, with the '905-centric' route running express through both of them. If that's the case, then having the two stations 1.3km apart wouldn't be a big issue at all, since the furthest out people on that route would be coming from would be either Port Credit or Long Branch (maybe Clarkson if it's really stretched).

Both can't hurt, especially when the message is overwhelmingly similar on both.
in this case maybe......but what happens if there is a difference of opinion between a politically driven petition and the very nicely put together site intended to take opinions/thoughts from all?

Even if they agree, I think it is a sign of the times (and not a good harbinger for decision making) that any politician would be setting up this sort of online petition when there is a very useful, practical, well designed site for the collection of public feedback....it is messy and unnecessary (IMO)

I still don't see the negative. Both end up at Metrolinx and one has the cachet of a petition...

When you bungle up transit and development as bad as Humber Bay, any option will do.

Just to further how angry people in this community are.... I had to rush back to the hood for a doctor appointment so I took an Uber.

Dear God 13 mins by car and upwards of an hour by transit? That's so very wrong.

Once the line is electrified, I don't see why we couldn't have stations at both Park Lawn and Mimico. That being said, if they insist that only one is possible, obviously Park Lawn takes priority by far. And yes, extend the streetcar connection to meet it as well. Humber Loop is just a horrible, dated design.
