ICE was selected to represent a winter theme - its that simple. And while the name ICE is a nod to ice surface of Rogers Place and the Oilers - it was to celebrate what was planned as a winter garden and to promote life a major cold weather city. It is not an acronym.

Role Summary:

OEG's Event Specialist oversees the event planning and execution for live entertainment, ICE District Plaza events, corporate events, third party venue rentals, and OEG produced events as assigned. The successful candidate will partner with our clients, internal departments and external stakeholders; and will play a vital role in the success of events at Rogers Place and the ICE District.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating the logistics of events throughout Rogers Place & ICE District; act as the liaison between venue and all parties involved in the event
  • Work collaboratively with clients and partners to manage all event details and execution plans
  • Work with suppliers for external event support and services
  • Create and distribute required documentation and reports for assigned events
  • Create, distribute and maintain event details and venue operational instructions, including event timing, event space layouts, contact lists, and activity descriptions
  • Prepare cost estimates and cost summaries for assigned events and distribute them to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Lead event planning and information sharing meetings to communicate and delegate event specifics to all stakeholders
  • Provide onsite event support and supervision for the duration of the event, from set-up and execution to tear down
  • Prepare and distribute post-event reports
  • Ensure Rogers Place & ICE District’s compliance with City of Edmonton regulatory agencies as required
  • Assist with administrative duties and projects as assigned
 
With the Oilers going deeper into the playoffs and the huge crowds to the Plaza as a result, plus a lot of concerts going on now, and summer festivals to the area, I wonder if prospective businesses will start to give Ice District and area a second look?

Do we know if Loblaws has been given the keys to their unit yet, so that they can start the interior work? Or are they still waiting on that?
