Check on their insurance. The section across from Ft Ed appears more stable but I have been on the river when large sections have come down.

Houses along Whitemud Road and also at 154st have no backyards. The last houses that fell were at Whitemud drive and Ramsey cr. Had a friend sell his house on the east side of Whitmud Road about a year earlier.

I had a client on Westbrook Drive whose house took the tumble into the creek -- couldn't have happened to a "nicer" guy.

Nice as it'd be, I don't think there is nearly enough political gumption to proceed with it before even considering cost and east bank stability.
As for those houses that fell in: City commissioned a geotech report in the 70s that said the bank was not stable and there was a reasonable likelihood of it destabilizing further in the future, and thus the City registered a caveat on the titles. Late 80s people bought the lots and built on them anyway. By 1999 three of the houses were practically falling into the river after a major portion of the bank eroded and fell into the river. Homeowners sued the City but lost, then the Province stepped in and paid them out for their homes. Still don't know why they did that.
At least we got some great pics out of it... would have been a pretty nerve wracking job running that track hoe.

I'm sorry but that Hwy 794 sign is really bugging me. That sign wasn't there the prior year. Hwy 794 was renamed to Hwy 44 way back in 1999.

That doesn't look like a very official sign to me, somehow? It's all crooked, on wooden posts, and if it was officially installed, int's in remarkably bad shape. I'd just contact Alberta Transportation, they'd likely be the ones in charge of that.

Does anyone know of any MAJOR milling and paving of arterials being performed this season? Ie, WB on the Whitemud between 66 and 91streets? The COE website is not listing anything as of yet.
