$130mil for a school? The average price is in the $450-550/sqft range... so taking the middle, that's a building of $260,000sqft.
 
Wonder if we'll finally see some movement here soon, it's been fenced like that for awhile BUT a development permit was issued June 20, 2024 for this site to construct a Residential building (35 dwellings of Multi-unit Housing).

EDIT: I *think* the project is titled "Belgravia Lofts" and that this is the rendering (interesting to see they plan to rebuild the laneway connection to the alley)

Eh, I think it's fine for a new building of this scale, especially if the units are more affordable.
 
Pretty sure that was the former proposed site for the Canadian Statoilhydro HQ that failed to move forward from circa 2010.
 
Yup. A design was done, but everything kinda imploded after the oil drop and financial crisis; it was going to be a technological innovation centre with some corporate presence and a staging point for future engineering projects.

I was not directly involved, but recall the proposal and design.
 
Ow that you mention it, they didn’t have a typical HO in YYC like every other O&G company. I believe they sold off their acreage around Conklin in 2015 to AOC who barely have enough money to keep the field flowing.
