We've got to get better at tracing this. That's 634 people - find out where they've been.

Yes........but

Worth saying a very big chunk of yesterday's numbers and likely most days for the next several will be from Long Term Care homes. That's where the focus has turned.

The residents didn't move around.

What's happened is spread between residents and between staff and one or more residents.

The key in these outbreaks other than isolating infected staff will be how to control the outbreak in multi-room accommodation. Very challenging.

Coronavirus: medical experts denounce Trump's latest 'dangerous' treatment suggestion

Doctors warn president’s musings on disinfectant as a cure for coronavirus could lead to death

Donald Trump has stunned viewers by suggesting that people could receive injections of disinfectant to cure the coronavirus, a notion one medical expert described as “jaw-dropping”.

At Thursday’s White House coronavirus task force briefing, the US president discussed new government research on how the virus reacts to different temperatures, climates and surfaces.

“And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute,” Trump said. “One minute! And is there a way we can do something, by an injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that. So, that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me.”

Dr Deborah Birx, the task force response coordinator, remained silent. But social media erupted in hilarity and outrage at the president, who has a record of defying science and also floated the idea of treating patients’ bodies with ultraviolet (UV) light.

Coronavirus: Dettol and Lysol maker warns against injections after Trump comments

A leading global disinfectant maker has been forced to warn consumers against injecting or drinking its products after Donald Trump asked if it could help treat the coronavirus.

Reckitt Benckiser (RB, RB.L), the maker of UK cleaning brand Dettol and US brand Lysol, issued the stark advice to consumers on Friday, saying it had a responsibility to help with “myth-busting.”

“As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body,” it said in a statement on its website.

The London-listed firm’s statement came after the US president said it would be “interesting” for researchers to check if inserting disinfectant into patients’ bodies could help, calling it “almost a cleaning.”

The comments have been widely dismissed by scientists and sparked ridicule. Robert Reich, a US public policy professor and former labour minister, tweeted: “Trump's briefings are actively endangering the public's health. Boycott the propaganda. Listen to the experts. And please don't drink disinfectant.”

One in 3 canadians think the virus came from a lab on china.
Lab or no, I’d say 1 in 1 Canadians know this virus came from China. The damage China has done to the world through the needless death of hundreds of thousands and economic disruption needs to be accounted for and prevented from reoccurring. China did this to us, that’s the point, not if it came from a lab, was intentional or accidental, or mysticism-based food practices.

i keep hearing people say "cant blame anyone" this is natural

lol

We definitely don't have enough facts to draw a firm conclusion about the role of the Chinese state (or community in Wuhan) in the origin story of the virus.

We do have evidence that the virus once known, was downplayed, doctors who spoke out were penalized, the number of cases/extent of the problem were under reported.

Those are actions for which we can hold the Chinese state accountable.

But while we're dolling out blame............we've known about the risks of outbreaks and infections in our long-term care homes for more than a decade.

Indeed, an Auditor General's report in 2009 identified serious problems and the risk of large numbers of deaths.............

Perhaps there are people in leadership in three different governments who could be called on to explain why that report was not diligently followed up on.

Long Term Care in Ontario is the source of over 70% of our deaths.

Need more room on sidewalks for social distancing.............unlike Toronto............Washington DC is doing something about it.

We certainly do have a enough facts. Researchers in Hong Kong warned China about the dangers of eating bats in 2007

But in China they blame the spread of Covid on black people. Nothing surprises me from this country, this a country that allows animal cruelty, they classified dogs as livestock! Poor treatment of women, forced sterilization! Installation of nets at factories to stop the workers who they treat like slaves from committing suicide! Building more coal plants than any other place on earth, which will lead to even more deadly pollution...etc

China is like something out of a horror movie.
