Being a slow news day in Canada I thought I would share this article on the states First Amendment. I think it is very interesting since we are facing "Nations" without borders that are full of ideologies and demagogues; the fundamentalist trend is more for the movement and not for the people. Toronto dealt with the Fords' version or rather "vision" and threw off those shackles only to have another Ford government not just screwing with them but now the whole province.
How Conservatives Weaponized the First Amendment

On the final day of the Supreme Court term last week, Justice Elena Kagan sounded an alarm.

The court’s five conservative members, citing the First Amendment, had just dealt public unions a devastating blow. The day before, the same majority had used the First Amendment to reject a California law requiring religiously oriented “crisis pregnancy centers” to provide women with information about abortion.

Conservatives, said Justice Kagan, who is part of the court’s four-member liberal wing, were “weaponizing the First Amendment.”

And check out this article for an interesting follow-up look at belief.
Here’s why you don’t have the right to believe whatever you want

Do we have the right to believe whatever we want to believe? This supposed right is often claimed as the last resort of the wilfully ignorant, the person who is cornered by evidence and mounting opinion: ‘I believe climate change is a hoax whatever anyone else says, and I have a right to believe it!’ But is there such a right?

Screw that noise! Incidental this 20 yr old was homeschooled and probably is clueless and obviously void of social skills.
Yes, but he is clearly more qualified than a person of colour. Remember screams of "merit" and such noise.

I say that always. Those who don't vote, by default accept the voice of those who do.

Sure, sure, except that the majority of people who do vote (for whichever party!) don't have a voice really.

So, I think it's more accurate to say that those who don't vote accept that they don't have a voice and don't bother.

Case in point: I went camping this weekend with 6 of my friends and the election came up in conversation. I was the only one who voted (males, 28-33) and every one of them said they didn't vote because their vote doesn't count for anything. Doesn't really matter, keep the good electoral times rolling.

According to Wikipedia at this link, Doug Ford "attended" Scarlett Heights Collegiate Institute. No mention that he "graduated", nor if he "attended" nor "graduated" from a college or university. Could someone update the entry in Wikipedia if they have the information?

And he wants to mess with the Physical & Health Education curriculum, if school wasn't that important to him when (or if) he just "attended"?

Humber has some excellent programs in specialty fields (e.g. animation), but I believe that for the general curriculum (e.g. 'Business 101') the admission criterion is the ability to breath, with or without assistance (thus, more lenient than 'if you can walk and talk you can go to Brock').

So that excludes him going to Brock because he needs either to stand still or use the support of that podium in his mom's basement.

I wish I could remember the link but I read that Doughe dropped out of university(ies) due to the lectures being boring.

IMHO, Doughie likes to crow about his achievements so if he is quiet on the education front then one would assume that he didn't complete any college/university credits.

We all have to remember that the Fords like to rewrite history. Anyone remember Doug Sr's claim with Marilyn Bell or trying to whitewash the creation of DECO with at least one partner? And then there is the life story of Doug Sr's dad...

Anyone watch "Poldark"?

Doughie's Alt-Right cronies, like Lauren Southern, also promote post-secondary education as Liberal/Socialist/Communist/Marxist indoctrination.

The new Ontario PCP government has "paused" all changes to the Smoke Free Ontario Act that were to come into effect Sunday in order to "carefully review the new regulations related to vaping."

Newly installed Premier Doug Ford has killed a key provision in a popular consumer protection law that was supposed to clamp down on skyrocketing ticket scalper prices.

More disconcertingly, he is putting on hold the new police oversight laws:

And again, you hear the rhetoric about "supporting rank and file".

They are basically reversing all the items that Wynne rammed in at the last minute in her attempt to be everything to everyone.

Some of these issues could probably use a sober second thought. I just don't think Ford will do that though. He will fuck shit up.

It is a relatively new position, so in and on itself is probably not a huge issue. The tone it sets is a bit more troubling, however - especially coupled with previous comments and behaviour.

Don't waste energy fighting little things - there is be bigger fishes to fry later.
