Premier slams 'downtown insiders', 'the gravy train' and the 'media party' at his annual Ford Fest in Markham...

Saturday’s event was free and open to the public, but unlike previous years it required attendees to register with ID for tickets and anyone could be denied entry.

The legislature rose on June 6 and will not return for five months, until after the federal election on Oct. 29.

Ford recently became the least popular premier in Confederation as public criticism increased after his first budget in April.

Yes, all those downtown insiders that packed NPS on Monday booing him ....
According to CP24, it was "a crowd of 100,000" booing him at NPS, while "a crowd he said numbered at 10,000" was present at Ford Fest. (Wonder what the attendance at today's Dyke March was.)

Maybe by the time the next Ford Fest rolls around, he'll no longer be Premier, but rather the leader of the People's Party of Ontario.

So many questions. Did Renata show up? What about Rob's kids? Diane? Randy? Did any of the recently demoted ministers show up? I see that Fedeli was fittingly flipping burgers. No tweets from Mulroney but Elliott was there. MacLeod was re-tweeting but I didn't see an actual tweet indicating she was there. The usual template was used by a few PC members on twitter, congratulating themselves on their wonderful year. They were supposedly expecting 15,000 people but then I saw 10,000 but it didn't look like that many.

Yeah; past Ford Fests were expansive and egalitarian--this one was, in part out of necessity, "exclusive". And truly sad by comparison with the Raptors, with Pride, and presumably even with what Queen's Park Canada Day would have been like. And that exclusivity makes his addressing "you, the people" ring *awfully* hollow.

And the most indelible image is that of the MAGA-cap "there's more important things, honestly" kid.

And another thing: I don't keep up with Ontario News Now, but has *it* acknowledged Pride at all?

Another thing re Ford Fest logic: it seems that when it comes to cutbacks in kids' education and whatnot, ferris wheels and bouncy castles are the junior version of casinos and buck-a-beer--a distraction and a pandering to the notion that "school sucks"...

Same as it ever was; same as it ever was...

Proof of registration was required for entry. Not everyone who registered would have shown up. ("10,000" means any number of people greater than three who did not boo him.)

The most pathetic is the current attempt to pin all the nepotism on Dean French and call it a day.

Speaking of whom:

Worried PC party staffers contacted the Toronto Star this morning...

Tory staffers were stunned when French showed up for work Monday despite his resignation. “He’s in the building right now,” a startled PC insider told the Star.

French allegedly “read the Riot Act to all (premier’s office) staff and then in a separate meeting with chiefs,” said the source, speaking confidentially in order to discuss internal discussions.

“The implied threat was make no mistake I still control things,” the insider said. Another high-ranking Tory said the situation in the premier’s office continues to be chaotic.

Dean French is still in charge "unofficially", even if not "officially" as such. Just like Rasputin in Czarist Russia.
