Does anyone know if asbestos mitigation took place before demo? These buildings pre-date asbestos awareness and the ban on such materials.

Here is a Google Street View snap of the townhouses before demolition started. The large panel on the upper floor IS asbestos, and was removed before the teardown began.

Asbestos removal is always done very carefully prior to demolition, and with the building sealed off in a tent if there's any danger of putting asbestos fibres into the air.
