My favourite tweet of the day:

@goldsbie It's like Pee-wee's Big Adventure. RT @JProskowGlobal Rob Ford apparently hopped in the cab of a transport truck.

As has been stated even Camh will allow supervised passes. And for what it's worth I think camh is a great place if you're having mental wellness related issues.

I attended The Donwoods Institute for a 21 day rehab and was allowed to leave on weekends, I was under no court order but chose to stay. The second weekend I had a family member visit and take me out for dinner and I checked back in before the required time (more for security reasons and because there was the SARS scare).

I don't know why you need to distinguish Camh facilities as "a great place if you're having mental wellness related issues", that's EXACTLY what addiction is. Regardless of the facility it's about changing your MIND, thoughts that cause you to use, situations you gravitate to etc. The physical part of addiction is the most easily cured, it's the mindset related to addiction that is the hardest to change, ingrained habits, negative self thoughts etc.

I was at a point in my life where I wanted to change, most people that end up in rehab aren't, court ordered, intervention by family etc. , forced by workplace (we had a large contingent of media folk). Unless you are honestly willing to admit that "I really hate the life I am living and I am going to try my best to change" you aren't going to get far.

I remember very specifically the speech I gave when leaving (which everyone does after 21 days and all groups attend). I said I felt like my life had become like the beginning of the Jetson's cartoon show where George has everything automated during his work day, his life is on autopilot. but left on his own is running on that treadmill to nowhere with the dog(booze) leading and he yells "Jane, get me off that crazy thing", (hoping someone will save him from himself), all he had to do was step to the side but he kept following a pattern he was bound to lose.

If you've never experienced addiction the above won't make any sense, but if you have I think you'll know exactly what I meant.

P.S. I think Rub is having a family moment and will do his time at Greenstone....but ultimately fail. He needs to cut ties with everyone that was a supporter while he used if he hopes to succeed.

One explanation for Renata's appearance that no one seems to have posited is the kids.

This is a long weekend, and regardless of what's going on between Rob and Renata, a responsible parent wouldn't deny their children the chance to see their father.

My thoughts: Renata and her parents drove the Escalade and the Escape up to the cottage, dropped the kids off with grandma at the Ford Cottage Compound and one of the parents went with Renata to pick up Rob.

The man with them was described as 40 something so that nixes that idea. Also, why would Renata drive the Escalade and not her own car? Why would they take both of their cars and not say one of their cars and one of the grandparents cars? Also, the excuse has been that he's allowed out on supervised visits with someone from the centre. It's a good effort but still doesn't answer any of the questions.

Sigh, ThoughtArcade, does it bother you that rehab seems to be a joke to people who own and operate those kinds of rehabilitations centres? This whole thing has been rather enlightening as to just how messed up the rehab system is.

My beef with CAMH is that they offer responsible drinking courses to addicts.

I think that is highly Irresponsible and gives addicts hope that they can drink again.

As someone who has relapsed a few times while thinking I could have a few here or there (instantly back to my old ways if not worse), I think that program is incredibly dangerous.

Hi all, been lurking, just a few thoughts/questions:

1. TStar says people connected to patients confirm Ford is at Greenstone and now everyone is convinced he's there.
2. CBC states Dr. gave Ford a day pass to take care of something. Dry cleaning? Banking?
3. If CBC is correct, are there no banks or dry cleaners anywhere between Greenstone and Bracebridge? Unlikely.
4. Ford manipulates the Dr., has to take care of something or will be too distracted. Big surprise.
5. Greenstone owner John Haines has terrible reputation.
6. Mr. lawyer Morris says to lay off and don't compromise patients, so it's not Rob's fault in any way, ya know, out and about posing for pictures with people.
7. The BS continues....

JOE WARMINGTON | QMI AGENCY

TORONTO -- At least there's no more need for those "missing" posters.

And rumours about Mayor Rob Ford being in Antigua can be put to rest. Muskoka, north of Toronto, where the Ford family has a cottage, is never a bad spot on the Victoria Day weekend.

Ford was not only spotted in the towns of Bracebridge and Gravenhurst Friday but was also doing routine errands.

Picking up dry cleaning, banking, posing for pictures. Stumping for votes?

There hasn't been this much intrigue in Ontario since Elvis was spotted in Tweed. This time there was photographic evidence.

"He was very jovial, looked pretty happy and healthy," Erine Strength told QMI Agency's Don "Pistol" Peat.

Not being seen since he went into seclusion May 1, following recordings of alleged poor behaviour, Mayor Ford looked pretty good in the pictures.

It was nice to see that smile because I had been working since early Friday morning on a tip that the mayor had actually "bolted" rehab.

"He was leaving often," said a source. "The doctor who had to go out and retrieve him when he walked out was in disarray."

A dozen hours later, there he was appearing away from his rehab centre.

Neither the mayor nor his brother, City Councillor Doug Ford, returned calls on my questions about this Friday.

But an explanation was offered when the CBC's Dave Seglins tweeted "#RobFord's rehab doctor to CBC: 'Yes he's still in program. His off-property activity was approved & considered essential. Supervised.'"

Maybe it was campaign approved as well? It certainly grabbed attention.

It is the second time in week the CBC quoted a doctor vouching for the mayor's rehab.

Last week I had spoken to another insider who said that while Ford had been in rehab for the first three days of May, he had also been out of a facility for at least three days.

Doug Ford assured me that the mayor was under "24-7" medical supervision, and a week ago the CBC quoted an unnamed doctor saying the mayor was out of the facility but was under supervision in hospital.

Wherever the mayor is, in the big picture, he or Doug are under no obligation to address something so personal.

The mayor is on an approved leave from city council and entitled to go anywhere he chooses.

His approach to rehab is also up to him. He has, after all, not been charged with a crime, nor has he been ordered into treatment.

It was voluntary.

Some remain concerned about his alleged bigoted comments on the video and audio I presented prior to the rehab stint. But the reality is, he did address that on April 30 when he told me he was embarrassed by what was said even though he didn't remember saying it. He has indicated he believes if he doesn't get better, he will die and feels ashamed for some of his previous actions while under the influence.

He also has talked about how much he has been enjoying the rehab experience -- something he reiterated to people in Muskoka Friday.

Other reports of ugly language or alleged violence have not been addressed so far, but it appears these are words spoken on his personal time in his own home or vehicle, or a family member's abode, that were surreptitiously recorded. One could argue he may not have to talk about them at all.

All I can say is, looking at the pictures of him with the good people of Muskoka, Mayor Ford sure doesn't look like a guy who is wearied.

He looks like the old Rob Ford.

And people seemed happy to see him, something that will not be lost on the opposing war rooms.

Time will tell, but maybe what happened in Muskoka was not as much about Ford in rehab as it was a first glimpse of what could be a man who will be a factor in the election. If he does clean up his act.

If you have any doubt, please fill me in on what the other candidates were up to Friday and how much Twitter and media action was generated from whatever that was.

Perhaps there could be a use for those "missing" posters after all.

Oh Warmington. Now all of a sudden Rob is due some privacy. Probably worth mentioning that Joe was the only rabid dog hounding the Fords for information on a daily basis. Secondly, somehow doing drycleaning in a Gravenhurst is strumming for votes? Because people in Gravenhurst vote in the Toronto municipal election? Thirdly, blah blah blah, it's all bs, Joe's trying to get on their good side again. Yawn.

The man with them was described as 40 something so that nixes that idea.

Wasn't it an ID done of a person sitting in a car? Not that it can't be correct, but it's not exactly a prime situation for identification.

That said, it could be someone from CAS, as a stipulation of the visit.

Also, why would Renata drive the Escalade and not her own car? Why would they take both of their cars and not say one of their cars and one of the grandparents cars?

Because Ford requested his own car? Because Renata didn't plan to be around him all weekend? Because three adults and two kids packed into a car for a long drive isn't exactly fun? Also, booster/car seats can be a pain in the ass to move between vehicles.

Also, the excuse has been that he's allowed out on supervised visits with someone from the centre.

You'll note I was only speculating on Renata's presence, not as to why Ford is out or the particulars thereof.

I would not be surprised if he hasn't just bailed on the rehab to go to the family cottage.

It's a good effort but still doesn't answer any of the questions.

I think people are way overthinking this.
