Yes, but who wrote the release, and how carefully did they fact-check it? Probably just a city hall staffer who read the Wikipedia entry, which is likely carefully nurtured by FoFam.

Ding! Ding! Ding! :)

The Wikipedia entry states that DoFo Sr. was born in 1933. Geneology.com says the same (no source given). That makes him 16 in 1949 and 21 in 1954, in spite of the Wikipedia claim that he was 16 in 1954 and giving Marilyn a run for her money. Total FoFam bulls**t.

Also on his tombstone.

What makes you think he's doing that 12 step nonsense? There are lots of ways to deal with addiction that don't involve all that bullshit.
I have never done it, but I do know some people who have been successful with different 12 steps programs, when nothing else worked. You may not agree with every aspect (eg: the religious part) but those programs are hardly nonsense. They have worked for lots and lots of people.

He also said he didn't know why that woman was driving Rob's escalade. Either he's lying or he hasn't spoken to Rob.

More accurately (since he claims to have visited Rob in Sunday*): Either he's lying or he's lying.

*Rob's "doing fabulous". One of the effects of 'rehab' apparently is that life gets simpler - the burdensome nuisance of "ly" disappears from all adverbs.

Someone needs to edit the sentence out. I don't have a Wikipedia account. It's just plain wrong, especidally since the entry has him born in 1933 and then 16 in 1954.

I wonder if the plan is to have Rob Ford come back as a "changed man" and then when he goes back to his old ways, to blame it on the media and the pressure that they've created.

Same old blah, blah, blah from Doug...

Doug says he doesn't know why Muskoka woman was driving Mayor's car, but says "Rob's the type of guy who'd give the shirt off his back"

Yeah I knew he'd say exactly that, as I predicted back on the 21st of May:

I predict that Doug will come out saying, see everyone, that's Rob for you, helping out a person (who crashed their car while drunk) in need. He was just trying to help her out, folks. He's that kinda guy.

@SunDoucette 40m
Several media outlets have gathered out front of the impound anxious to see who picks up Ford's Caddy.

Yep, it's come down to this. Media hanging around waiting for someone to pick up a damn car. A CAR! *rolls eyes a thousand times*
edit: I assume CP24 will have their chopper in the sky following the car around because that's what they do.

- None of the sources indicate his presence during Marilyn Bell's record swim. Note that it started in New York State and required (as usual) support. Her coach had to seek financial support from the newspapers to enable her to make the swim. How plausible is it that Doug Ford would have been able to afford to join in the event? (Say, oh, not at all?)

I found a 2000 documentary on Marilyn Bell (plus a brief backgrounder on Canadians and distance swimming) on YouTube. It's been chopped up into five 9-10 minute segments and the sound is pretty bad in parts, almost unintelligible. Parts 3 and 4 chronicle the Lake Ontario swim. No Doug Ford Sr. mentioned. Note also that the swim was supposed to start a day or so earlier so again, it seems unlikely that Doug Sr. trekked all the way to Youngstown (with his mythical sponsors and support craft) and stood around waiting for the swim to start.

Also an interesting look at how competitive the newspapers were back in the day.

It is possible (whether it is probable is a whole other question) that Doug Ford Sr. tried the CNE marathon swim (which, as someone has already noted, usually was not an across the lake event) at 16 years of age and all of the rest is myth-making (just like the myth that he single-handedly founded Deco).

Yup
