This toilet thing has got up my bum.

The obvious cheaper solution at Sugar Beach are porta-potties. Nothing wrong with those if they were maintained clean, safe and user-friendly. Once upon a time this was as good as it got. Don't you think somebody would have figured out how to keep a nice hole-in-the-ground? But it does take paid labour.

As far as the little buildings themselves go, the procurement contract could even specify tasteful pastel colours with Pantone # if need be. Have a monthly artists' contest to paint them. Go nuts.

But the problem with Ford and his common-sense ilk is that they also hire companies like GFL waste management with their middle-finger customer service ethic to maintain said porta-toilets and you get the situation shown in the photo: aka a Doug Ford Cocktail (aka a "Top to Bottom").

So ironic when many of Ford Nation claim to be salt of Rob's earth, and therefore includes poo cleaners.

Corrupt and right-wing or not, Fords don't solve problems.

I get that most people here don't use the Waterfront, but y'all need to understand that the washrooms and umbrellas are miles apart. Umbrellas are on Sugar Beach, with its beautiful (really! It's fun!) views of Redpath's scoop unloading freighters, beautiful dockside walk and sand and Muskoka chairs. DMW is talking about the washroom at Cherry Beach sportsfields, where that $600k was probably covered by rent from the soccer and lacrosse users in one summer.

Why doesn't some photographer go down and take shots of the whole sports complex? Too much to ask of our media?

Agreed. The gang members caught on the Project Traveller wiretaps apparently didn't take Lisi's threats (courtesy of Ford) seriously... until around the 21st when the shooting in Dixon Tower & the Basso break-in happened. That's when they suddenly got VERY spooked.

If there's a Smith connection, I think it'd be pretty tenuous.

That said, it's always possible there was stuff on the wiretaps that's been kept from the public.

Ya apparently in taps that haven't been released yet gang members were fearing for their lives that mafia was after them for several days after the crack video story came out.

I know there are other taps where they say the Fords were trying to kill them but I never got a time frame for when those ones were recorded.

If Ford had A. Smith whacked, some people in their mutual inner circles would know. There's almost no sense in doing something like that if it doesn't also "send a message" (it certainly didn't scare anyone into destroying the crack video). Abdi and Siad were having the "Ya, he said I’ll give you $5,000 and a car, WTF is that?†conversation literally 13.5 hours before Smith was shot. They didn't have another conversation the next day saying "oh man this guy's serious, let's not f*ck with him!"

A few weeks later, others took Ford's cellphone and then haggled with Lisi over how much weed it would take for them to give it back! Would you do that with the property of a guy who you think had someone gunned down in the middle of downtown? Basso called him a f*cking idiot. She worried about the cops coming around every day, screwing up their 'business' but she didn't think RoFo was going to come over and kill them. Siad continued to try to sell the video; he seemed more worried about what other dealers would do to him (either because they don't approve of him blackmailing a good customer like Rofo, or because they wanted the lucrative vid for themselves) than being worried about the Fords.

Maybe Ford and co thought the video was taken care of with Smith and that they no longer had to worry about it or send a message? Some folks I've spoken to think the crack video was filmed on Smiths' phone, and Siad borrowed it to catch Ford smoking the pipe.

yeah, it's important to remember that the only ITOs we've seen so far are the ones used to get warrants for Lisi, not Ford (and even those were heavily redacted). There's buckets of stuff out there that we haven't seen yet. I hope we do, some day.

There's plenty of Ford-specific stuff that we haven't seen--possibly because it's in an ITO that media has been unable to find (cops have a way of hiding them if they want to). For example, you see in the Lisi ITO there are several surveillance reports where cops document their day tailing Lisi. I know they've conducted plenty of the same type of surveillance just of Ford and none of that was in the Lisi ITO. I'm hoping if Ford ITOs come out that there's a photo of Dougie flipping the bird to the Cessna in one of them!

dang - sad but not surprising. the man's obviously got a rock-solid constitution, but i don't think he's smart enough to go on being a user for too long. keith richards - bless his heart - was notorious for only buying top-quality gear, and using fresh kit every time. he also had a team of handlers. ford ought to be buying his gear from a very discrete, very expensive boutique provider with the highest quality. instead he buys from gangsters and smokes up in dumpy basements. before too long he's going to end up smoking something that's been laced or cut or otherwise contaminated, and it's going to go badly for him (to say nothing of hepatitis and friends).

Not sure about the Sun. I'm guessing the Globe is weeks away from publishing anything new as Doolittle is in Iceland. Since the Star recently published their rehab story I think they're a couple of weeks away from anything new too. CBC I heard had their own Ford gone wild in rehab story but when the Star beat them to it they just ran that umbrellas story so they're likely a ways away from anything new as well.

One old thing that's come to my attention again. I'm more certain than ever that the person Ford was talking about in the murder rant video was one of the Globe and Mail's sources for their investigation into his brothers. I know for a fact it was filmed between Nov 2012 and Jan 2013, and the Globe was really active with their investigation at that time. The Fords were obviously aware of it and heard about one specific guy being a source. That's why he's pissed that guys were talking crap about his brothers, and gossiping like "80 year old birds". I'm pretty sure the Globe knows who specifically Ford was talking about but can't publish anything unless someone who was present or someone who spoke with someone who was present confirms who it was.
