Something odd at the polls tonight for my daughter. My son and I had voted in the advance poll, which he had to register for because he hadn't received a card. When my daughter went today she said her name was already crossed off and she could see mine and either her brother's name or my late husband's name ( they had the same name) on the list. Odd because we only received two cards and I wonder what they would have done if she hadn't brought her card with her. Her name was crossed out so it appeared that she had voted. I think we need a better system for next time.

Seeing reports of huge lines in several wards, Metro Hall, Regent Park, Liberty Village...enough to make some people leave.

They are all be allowed to vote if they were in line before the polls closes...and that would delay the results there for a while.

Also regarding the Lisa Kirbie free press thing; I would agree if she was a reporter, she's not, she's a commenter. I wouldn't expect OC to have Warmington at her gathering. The comparison is apt as both are connected to campaigns. IMO, it's a non story that is being used a partisan talking point.

To quote Pud: "Exactly."

There was a very frazzled polling clerk where I was. She said 2 other workers hadn't shown up and they were having to cover for the missing clerks. She asked the man ahead of me for his voting card which was sitting in front of her. Then she asked me for mine (it was in her hand) and handed me a separate school ballot (I'm not, and it said so on my card). When that was sorted out, she had run out of folders. And finally when I got to the booth there was no pen to mark the ballot. I hope things went better later in the day. In spite of all that, it was the most satisfying voting experience I remember after more than 40 years of voting.
Fingers crossed for a Ford free Toronto tomorrow.
