CIBC SQUARE Construction Update
141 Bay Street
Construction at 141 Bay Street continues following the labour action disruptions in the month of May and the remobilization of forces in June. Excavation will be complete on the eastern half of the site for the end of July. Footings, columns, underground mechanical, and slab-on-grade work are progressing across the P3 and P5 areas of the project. Preparation for the foundation of the final tower crane near Yonge Street will be commencing with erection targeted for the end of the summer. The forming of the Tower core walls has progressed to Level 3. The next step in the superstructure is the placement of twelve large, structural steel nodes atop the Level 3 core wall starting at the end of July.
On the east side of the site, the overburden from the existing viaduct has been removed. The reinforcement of the existing viaduct is underway within the centre median of Yonge Street under the railway overpass. This work continues during extended daytime hours with partial lane closures and is targeted for completion in mid-August.
On the west side of the site, enabling works for the foundation of the bridge between 141 Bay and Union Station are targeted to start in August.
Overbuild Park
Crews have finished installation of structural steel & steel deck for the current phase of the Overbuild Park. The concrete topping work is being scheduled. To ensure safety, this work will take place overnight as it requires access to the active Metrolinx rail corridor – no construction personnel are permitted to work in the rail corridor when trains are in operation.
