The work on the Sony Centre Plaza(s) seem to have been postponed to early 2015 and after the Pan-Am Games. The new Sony Board received this rather odd report at its recent meeting. http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2014/hb/bgrd/backgroundfile-73210.pdf

The drawings of the west terrace (Yonge/Front are here: http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2014/hb/bgrd/backgroundfile-73172.pdf

They also received a longer report on scheduling and costs: http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2014/hb/bgrd/backgroundfile-73159.pdf

Work on the west plaza - in front of the L Tower - will commence in April 2015 with completion in June. The north and east plaza areas are still being designed, and that work will not commence until after the Pan Am Games. During the Games it space should be free of construction and fully open.

Just seems this crane is taking forever to come down.

The story we have (unconfirmed, but makes sense) is that some of the window washing boom equipment has not arrived yet. The developers applied to have it helicoptered in, but were denied permission. The crane has to stay until such time as the equipment is delivered. Then the crane will disassemble itself one section at a time; that should be interesting to watch through stop motion. Who has the perfect vantage point and camera for that?!

Yes, that's a gorgeous vantage point! One tripod and a timer (or a lot of patience) and you'll have an interesting stop-motion video once the crane comes down.
