Only difference I see is the lack of Presto ... :)

So, in other words, the streetcars were identical before last week. So remind why are we spending billions of dollars for these 'new' streetcars?

We're so clever and funny

We were talking after TTC meeting today and its very possible we may not see any new streetcars until Feb or Mar next year.

Thunder Bay supposed lost a number of welders and the production line will not be up and running until Jan.

If the plant has lost welders because of the strike, not easy to find quantify ones in a small city. Or where these welders let go as they weren't up to par? Who pull who leg??

It sounds like TB on thin ice because of the strike and TTC applying the pressure for both quality and delivery as well holding payment.

TTC is no sure where 4405 is, but not in their yard as some have stated to TTC. Still got 2 weeks yet to get it ship this month if the plant close for the Christmas Holidays, otherwise 3 weeks.

The new carhouse is going to be late opening again.

Not really surprised by all these delays considering that they lost many to their strike.
Then again this is partially self inflicted thanks to ALL the rail vehicles being contracted to this company creating one massive backlog.
I'm not sure if this was discussed before but can TTC impose financial penalties on bbr for not meeting their delivery agreements?

This is self inflicted? Bombardier accepted the contracts. It's their resposibility to know what capacity thet have for delivering these vehicles. If they couldn't meet the demand, they shouldn't have accepted the contract.

Hence partially self inflicted; they bit off more than they could chew at the current rate
same for Toronto for picking bbr, costs aside.

then again you gotta love 20/20 hindsight....

Rode one of the new streetcars since Presto has been installed.

Swipe your card and it's just a giant check mark.
How useful is that? Not very!
Did they not listen to a word we said when they had testing panels?

And since when does the driver not open the doors?
You think a sticker or something indicating that the button way below eye level opens the doors would be too much to ask for.

the check mark is a lot more obvious than a little beep that the old ones gave. especially for the deaf.

doors not opening automatically are standard all over the world. get used to them.

Drivers not opening doors on these new cars are the norm world wide and up to the riders to open them.

Only have to go to Buffalo to see this in operation.

There is personal on the platforms and the cars that are supposing to be telling riders how to use the doors and fare machines.
