I've been checked on the TTC about 5% of the time I use it (streetcar during the ride as well as at Union) and on GO about 30% of the time. My husband uses GO more than I do and has only been checked once -- he tends to use it at rush hour times, but I don't. Perhaps it's just too difficult during rush hour with packed trains?
I have been check 3 times on surface route in all my years using the system. I have seen them at Union and Spadina loop as you get off the streetcar. Have seen them at a few stations as well streetcar stops. You find them these days at stations getting new fare gates.

I have been check numerous of times on GO LS line in off peak between my point to point trip and at the start of peak at from Burlington. Seen a number on the platforms waiting to go the opposite direction. One gets on at each end of the train and meet in the centre. Some will start on lower level while the other on the upper when working as a pair. Trying to check at peak is impossible since trains are pack with new riders getting on cars that was just check. Better off standing on the platform at a car door to check fares.

Time for more fare inspectors. Enough with the warnings, actually charge them. Escorted with police, after traffic wardens start their jobs.

That's because there's someone roaming around each Go Train anyways, so they might as well be checking tickets. I believe that each train has three staff - two actually operate the train and one checks tickets and assists passengers, especially those who are handicapped.

At least in my experience, you're less likely to be checked if you're at one of the ends of the train, because handicapped passengers are sent to the middle of the train.
The CSR (the third staff) does not go through the train and check everyones tickets. They are dedicated teams of inspectors that randomly embark onto trains and check tickets.

Plan A at King. Sounds serious.
