More opposition to an inner city project. This time on Edmonton Trail and 27th ave (here). This time though, it appears the CA is in support of the project, but some of the residents are against it. The developer is asking for a height increase from 14M to 24M (about 8 storeys)

I wonder if they are proposing something taller so they get to build to the current maximum without opposition. Edmonton Tr needs more height there, but 8 storeys may be a bit much...

That could be the case. I mean, yeah, 8-9 storeys is kind of tall for that location. The current allowance of 14 meters would put it at around 5 storeys, which can be done with wood framing and also give the optics of a compromise. 24 Meters would be good if located around 16th ave or south of it.

In what world does 14 metres equate to 5 stories? That's less than 3m a storey. And that doesn't include the roof.
