Some of the exhibitions in the gallery's first year include:

Planetary, an exhibition featuring more than 36 Calgary-based artists will be on from Jan. 23 to April 26.
Museum of the Moon, by Luke Jerram, will be featured on Jan. 23 to March 15.
Yoko Ono's GROWING FREEDOM: The instructions of Yoko Ono and The art of John and Yoko, will be featured on May 21 to Aug. 23.
Same Dream and Everywhere We Are by Omar Ba.

It is interesting, as this street is not one of the planned "main streets" in the MDP, yet it is quickly developing (in the planning stage at least) into one. 3 of the applications are going to CPC next week (for land use, not DP), but first a bit of an overview:

24th Avenue is currently a plain, collector road built decades ago, so not the most inviting streetscape, but there is a proposed new cross-section, seen here:

Every one of those proposals looks great. I can’t believe how much construction is still happening and how much the bar has been raised for design in this city. I still remember the days of Edmonton style stucco crapboxes that passed for infill.

I wonder if the addition is in jeopardy now that the provincial government is reneging on all the funding commitments made by the previous government? The feds committed $100 million contingent on the province and city paying their parts. I fear the full scope of the project could go the way of the Greenline.

Nothing other than what's in the land use itself. Very ambitious though. Looks like the Land Use involves the location and size of future roads, something that would have to be done, as the location doesn't have the road system to handle that many new residents.

This combined outline plan and redesignation application proposes an outline for the future subdivision and development of 26.8 hectares of land in the communities of Bowness and Greenwood/Greenbriar. The application provides for:

  • anticipated 204 dwelling units within 3 to 5-storey apartment buildings (M-2)
  • up to 725 dwelling units within 4-10-storey terraced apartments (DC/M-2)
  • 69 courtyard units (R-2M)
  • 147 units of townhouses (DC/R-G)
  • 247 units of low-density residential dwellings (R-G)
  • 4.6 hectares of public open space, including parks and storm ponds (S-SPR, S-UN, S-CRI)
  • the location and size of future public roads
  • the location of major utilities and services
  • closure of existing road rights-of-way for 44, 46 and 47 Avenue NW and 95 Street NW

Nothing earth shattering in there but nice to see some timeline updates for known projects. Block K (Eve Block), Block Q (phases 3 and 4) and Block Y have been sold and the developers should be announced by the summer. I know the sale of the K block in the east Village was previously mentioned but I'm glad to see they have found someone to take on the second half of the Q block. A little disappointed about the Y block as I think The Bounce is a nice amenity to have in the east village and the usage it got this summer was fantastic.

Block Y will remain as is for the foreseeable future, but expect CMLC to find a new location for The Bounce once development on that parcel begins. Like I said it's a few years away - and from what I've heard, will be senior's housing.

Block Q will be developed by a developer who has been doing another notable project not too far away....

Alright, someone needs to dish. Who are the development partners for Block K, Q and Y? It will be considered an early Christmas present :)

Also, a design competition for a new CPA parking lot in Inglewood? Why the hell would we need a new surface parking lot in Inglewood

The design competition is to revamp the existing lot on the NE corner of 9th Ave and 11th St SE, thankfully not a new lot.
