The bus barns are a when, not an if. That land is actually one of the [probably] greasy parts of the arena deal - CSEC was going to get first right of refusal to buy that land at 'market value'. How that market value is determined with only 1 bidder is a problematic question.
On the other hand, swapping the Saddledome land to the Stampede for the big-tree parking lot site might be a better deal [than any other deal with the Saddledome land), but we don't know for sure whether its a 1 for 1 trade, or if the city was having to throw in any cash. Any time these questions were asked the answer was always 'confidentiality', which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.
I'd rather the city swap equivalent bus barn lands with Remington for the lot north of 11th ave (for the arena), and swap the Saddledome land to Stampede for the parcel south of the Elbow near Erlton Station and a 2nd round draft pick (or whatever else to balance the scales).
