I love that park, but my and my partner were discussing something the other day. Why do they plant annual flowers in there every year? wouldn't it make more sense to just plant a bunch of nice perennials? then all they have to worry about is cleaning up the beds and weeding
 
They do plant entire perennial beds, it’s just that most are annuals. The bed in question was tulips up til a week ago, and now they replanted it so it won’t be… hideous and full of dead tulips.

This is the first time I’ve tried this particular type of Broccoli. It looks like it might be a single harvest type I’m not sure. There are a couple of other broccoli plants in the upper middle of the pic, those ones keep going all summer.

In all my years living in Calgary, I've never known anyone to grow Broccoli before. I didn't know you could grow it here.
