I believe the TD at Queen/Parliament is essentially moving here as that branch is closing in a few weeks.

Not a shock - there's been quite a bit of land assembly being doing on at that corner of Queen and Parliament

The TD in the 'Wedge' building/33 Mill street will be closing - account holders at the branch have been notified in a letter, directing them to a 'Help and Advice Centre" which will be located in the Canary District. This branch will feature ATMs, some financial advisors, and no tellers.

Rekai Centres (Long term care home) and Options for Homes (Affordable condominium project) will be developing Block 5 across from the YMCA.

That's a pretty narrow lot.

I also wonder what will happen to the dealership next door. Is it still slated for re-development?

Affordable housing coming to WDL

http://news.ontarionewsroom.com/mho...s-land-to-create-more-affordable-housing.html

Today the Province of Ontario announced that it would releasing Blocks 8/20 (SE of Mill/Cherry) and Blocks 3W/4W/7W (SW of Front/Cherry - former PanAm Welcome Centre) to the market to build approximately 1300 units of rental housing of which up to 390 will be affordable, at varying levels of affordability.

Affordability will be financed through a Provincial contribution of low-cost, long-term land leases and through a City of Toronto contribution consisting of exemption and/or deferral of city development charges and taxes.

It is hoped that this initiative and a similar one for a provincial site at Grosvenor and Bay can be a model for further affordable rental housing development on surplus provincial and city lands.

During the initial planning for the West Dona Lands and the construction of the flood protection berm, there was talk of removing the utility bridge over the Don River (just north of the unused bridge that was once Eastern Avenue). This may happen as West Harbour is developed:

"Enbridge is also engaged in discussions with Community Planning and Waterfront Secretariat staff, and other stakeholders such as TRCA, Waterfront Toronto and the TTC, respecting a project to replace and re-route a portion of the existing pipeline infrastructure in the Lower Don area. Currently, pipelines running from 405 Eastern Avenue cross two bridges over the Don River: the utilities bridge east of Corktown Common and the rail bridge just north of Lake Shore Boulevard East. The proposed replacement pipeline would avoid these bridges, and potentially be rerouted away from the 405 Eastern Facility to a proposed new station. Removing pipelines from these bridges, and with respect to the utilities bridge then removing the structure itself, would support area infrastructure objectives and also is contemplated in the Port Lands Flood Protection project implementation plan. The specific details of the Enbridge project are still being developed and evaluated." From: http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2017/pg/bgrd/backgroundfile-108542.pdf

Well, maybe! This was passed by Council yesterday.

City Council consideration on January 31, 2018
Motion without Notice
MM36.32
ACTION

Ward:28

The Aviary 482 and 484 Front Street East - Liquor Licence Application - File 819428 - by Councillor Lucy Troisi, seconded by Councillor Gary Crawford
* This Motion has been deemed urgent by the Chair.
* This Motion is not subject to a vote to waive referral. This Motion has been added to the agenda and is before Council for debate.

Recommendations

Councillor Lucy Troisi, seconded by Councillor Crawford, recommends that:

1. City Council direct the City Clerk to advise the Registrar of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario that the liquor licence application by 10414638 Canada Corp. operating at 482 and 484 Front Street East is not in the public interest having regard to the needs and wishes of the residents, and that the Registrar should issue either a Proposal to Review or a Proposal to Refuse the liquor licence application.

2. City Council request the Licence Appeal Tribunal to provide the City with an opportunity to be made party to any proceedings with respect to the Premises.

3. City Council authorize the City Solicitor to attend all proceedings before the Licence Appeal Tribunal in this matter and direct the City Solicitor to take all necessary action so as to give effect to this Motion, including determining whether the application ought to be refused outright or whether the application can be supported with conditions to the liquor licence, all in consultation with the Ward Councillor.

Summary
10414638 Canada Corp. has submitted an application for a liquor licence to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario for the premises at 482 and 484 Front Street East (“Premises”). The application is for a proposed indoor capacity of 169 people and proposed outdoor capacity of 138 people.

The Premises are located in close proximity to residential properties. These are sensitive uses that may be impacted by the Premises. There are concerns related to noise, litter, safety, lighting and other potential disturbances to residents in the area.

This application for a liquor licence is not in the public interest unless the concerns of the residents are addressed. The Registrar of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario should be requested to issue a Proposal to Review or a Proposal to Refuse the liquor licence application.

I've walked by it. The Liquor license application is in the windows of this unit at the corner of Front Street and Tannery Road. Good space for a patio as well.

too bad. Hate it how these condo boards always try to block restaurants in their retail spaces. They are such key items to neighbourhood vitality. It reminds me of when The Real Jerk was trying to find a new space - they tried to go in the base of 625 Queen E, and the condo board got their liquor license denied.
