    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I rode them end to end yesterday. Fantastic, even though they aren't yet complete. They definitely need to throw some green paint down at intersections. A few times cars would just block the entire bike lane because they pulled out way too far to turn from a side street. Could actually be a...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

A segment of Hoskin Ave has a parking-protected bike lane already. Believe they swapped the parking and the lane some time last summer.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

As far as I can tell, bike lanes (but not necessarily protected) along the entire corridor are part of the Project Agreement, so they're "funded" and there's nothing council can do to stop them.

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

MUP means Multi-use path. Think of the one along Lakeshore in the east, where it's off-road, but crosses streets like Leslie parallel to the crosswalk. It's called something like elephant feet crossing.... Looks. Here it is next to a pedestrian crossing: Those are typically controlled with...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Didn't the city acquire smaller plows for things like the Richmond/Adelaide lanes? I thought I remembered some big ado about them keeping (at least) those lanes clear this past winter.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I can't speak for the entirety of the line/street, but I know for a fact that the stations I'm tangentially involved with have bike lane components to the streets above them. I would presume that it's built into the PA to work with the Eglinton Connects framework, but this is conjecture at this...

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

That's true for basic bike lanes when they are dashed at intersections. Cycle tracks (Richmond, Adelaide, Sherbourne, etc), the driver has to yield to cyclists approaching from the rear. It's also true for off-street MUP crossings which are signalized and striped, which are treated similar to...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

You don't exactly "ride for free". You're expected to tap at the next possible location, ie if you transfer to another route, or a subway station, etc. You're still expected to pay the fare you owe if that option becomes available. Obviously you should be tapping at the one of the other...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Science Centre station will be a relatively shallow cut and cover station. There should be plenty of room to easily slide the DRL underneath and find some way to connect the two lines.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

There won't be a provision for the DRL in the Science Centre design unless drastic changes are made to the existing Project Agreement. It's not in the scope right now. The station is at almost 50% design and construction isn't that far off, so I'd imagine we're well past the time when it could...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I've seen maybe one or two ambulances/fire trucks on the ROW. St. Clair's is a problem for emergency services though, as the centre poles make each "lane" quite narrow.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

That's my understanding of what happened - though it's probably entirely hearsay. I would guess that Eglinton is wide enough that it shouldn't be as big of an issue. The city gets the opportunity to comment at the design at various intervals and, since we keep seeing it in the designs, that...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's legal here, and it's being designed into the Crosstown.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Do you mean the 29 bus stopping at Dufferin station? Every time I've used it, it's been de facto all door boarding because it would just take way too long to load everyone through the front. I wonder what portion of those riders are directly off the subway. I bet it's pretty high. I would...

    Toronto Bike Share

Some of the new locations are already on the BikeShare Toronto map... there's also several where the GPS is badly malfunctioning... I'd assume, though, that the docks not on the map just aren't online yet. The original release said it'd be up and running by the 11th.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

The new fare gates at the main entrance of St. Clair station were in operation today. I would assume that means it's Presto-enabled, but since I was exiting, not entering, I didn't test that out.
