    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

It’s doable. I saw a convo somewhere here that ML/Go need the freight bypass and at least a third track through downtown Brampton. If they build all of that and get the proper signalling and controls i.e. 3 minute headways, should be good even at that volume of service.

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

I was actually talking about the pedestrian tunnels at Weston Go itself. I know the corridor was built up for 4 tracks (up to the 401 tunnel) already. I was referring to the possibility of a new platform being built at Weston Go to the east of the new track 1. (Conveniently positioned to berth a...

I wonder if the tunnels at Weston have been extended east for a new potential eastern platform beside a new track 1? Or maybe not in anticipation of the station closing when Mount Dennis comes online?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

No. Judging by the location, yesterday’s movements were CN moves further north on the line. ML does own the line Union - Allendale but CN has a couple of customers they still serve, a brickyard and a lumber yard. This was discussed a few days ago on UT because there are consistent significant...

CN willing to negotiate?? Just tell that to Brampton commuters still waiting for their evening and weekend trains!

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

There is the one RBC tower at Edgeley, plus the condos at Weston Rd, albeit on the other side of the 400 so not the most pleasant walk. A quick BRT ride away when that gets done though, and it's in the works. And there's a rumour I saw somewhere on UT that the Walmart is actively looking for a...

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

The platform assignments are pretty much in place. But a large printout of the current platform assignments in a central location inside the terminal would be most useful. I had a bit of a time trying to figure out where my bus (47 westbound) was going to come in yesterday, especially as its...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I think he meant the middle section of the west (southbound) platform, with the raised accessibility area, directly in front of the west building, is complete. Just awaiting extensions of said platform to the north and south for full train length. Which (northward anyway) is awaiting a new...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I doubt that’s going to happen . The flooring, even temporary, still isn’t complete under there, construction materials and machines are all over. Maybe by February, fingers crossed, and happy to be proved wrong if it happens before that. I’m actually watching for when they finish the stairs...

Not to my part of town. I still need to hit Union/Yorkdale/Yorkdale Mills by a certain time or else prepare to get a room or a taxi/Uber.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I’ve often wondered of late what an overnight Go bus schedule would look like, connecting major points across the GTHA. I think the 34/40 is an experiment/first step. Adding say the 36, a 407 West route (47 or 46) Square One-Bramalea Go-York, 407 East to Durham and a 401 East Yorkdale-Durham...

Hmmm... Gantt chart. At times, it seems ML is allergic to those. But that work should have been done by now. Could really use an open platform with a snow melt system there...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

That platform was in use before and just closed in 2015 for 2 year reno/extension for 12 car trains. I’m no expert but I don’t see why that and the Torbram work would be tied together in any way, as far as current service/the proposed uptick to hourly evenings & weekends is concerned, as midday...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

For the record, I don’t disagree with you. Except that I may be slightly more optimistic than you that improved/additional service is eventually coming and starting to build the tunnel now will turn out to be a good decision looking back. I share your disappointment on previous missed goals and...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The 401/409 tunnel won’t be done for at least another 3-4 years so to start it now fits the timeline to be done just as the catenary for electrification starts going up. o_O

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I can see your point. But I can see their optimism here that eventually the service will come through, even if the word is currently “stand pat” for another 7-8 years until the bypass gets worked out. Which really sucks for right now...

Lol! You mean convince CN, then finish the work after?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

As of today, yes. I spoke of limitations earlier, those being the lack of stops east of Malton. Right now, the last two eastbound midday trains on Kitchener Line (Mount Pleasant to Union) run Express to Union east of Malton. They do slot in just ahead of UPX trains headed in the same direction...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

In the case of the Kitchener Line, it’s physically possible, with some limitations, but ML/CN still haven’t come to an agreement on running more service on the 300 ft stretch from the junction at Hwy 407 (Halwest?) to Bramalea Go. In the cases of Barrie and Stouffville, full double tracking has...
