There's no flip flop. Everyone in the universe supports a DRL line. Chow is just calling out those using it as a campaign promise without backing it up.

You are just being confused because a campaigning politician is employing honesty.

You don't seem to realized that the Liberals won't care about Chow. They campaigned on giving the subway to Scarborough. You really think they're interested into breaking a promise due to the constant flip flopping of our city council? They won't care. They won't build an LRT even if Chow and Sonacki beg for it. Their provincial election is more important than Chow's campaign and they won't lose a Scarborough seat to accommodate Chow's campaign...who happens to be NDP.

Now that we know she won't cut the tax hike, the province will tell here pay up so you get your stop to Sheppard or shut up and you get a subway to Scarborough Centre. And when that happens, see how hard it will be to get Federal funding in the future after losing the last shred of credibility we have left into lobbying for infrastructure money that the Conservatives gave us by literally improvising a new program just to give us the cash and still commit the 666M$ to Sheppard East.

It's so irresponsible to advocate for another flip flop at this point. Only a Provincial Majority NDP would grant Chow's request at this point. The Liberals and PC will never build an LRT in Scarborough. We could have had our LRT in Scarborough. All city Council had to do was to humour Rob Ford with his private sector scheme for Sheppard (which would have failed) and let the Eglinton Crosstown LRT merge with the Scarborough LRT which was a superior project to begin with. It would have doubled the ridership on the line and get you from Weston Road to Sheppard East in 35 minutes or so. But, no they had to torpedo that one just because Ford made it happened (Yes he agreed with Scarborough having an LRT merged to the Crosstown) and now everyone is complaining about the LRT being gone. Why don't you blame Stinz, De Baermaker, Adam Vaughan and company for it? They killed it and now want it back???? Wow! and you wonder why senior government are getting fed up with us.

Scarborough is getting it's subway even though it should have been the merged Scarborough-Eglinton Crosstown. We have to look ourselves in the mirror and tell city councillors to put their petty grievances aside once in their lives for OUR greater good.

At what "point"? Nothing much has really happened since council voted to cancel the LRT.

While the flip flopping sure doesn't look good for Council, it doesn't reflect on Chow. And there's too much money at stake to worry about looking stupid changing back to LRT. It isn't just the $1 billion...or the possible extra $1 billion in cost over runs. It's also the hit it will be to the TTC's future cost-efficiencies of the operating and maintenance budgets.

The "point" at which we should stop flip flopping is the point when Solid Snake's preferred technology is the current plan :)

I did mention earlier that the old LRT plan merging tge crosstown with the Scarborough LRT was my favored plan, right?

Yep. This is what I have been saying for a while too! The provincial government doesn't care what someone like Chow or Soknacki wants to do with Scarborough at this point. The Grits promised a subway extension and the Tories have said they will not back any LRT plan in Toronto other than the Crosstown which is being built now. If either Chow or Soknacki become mayor, they will look very foolish when they are told by either the Liberal or PC government that a subway extension will be moving forward. A majority NDP government would go back to the LRT plan but the likelihood of a NDP government in Ontario at this point is slim to none. Plus, going back to the LRT plan after the election is like slapping the federal government in the face after they forked over for the millions for the Bloor-Danforth extension. Jumping back to the LRT plan is just silly at this point and not progressive at all. Yeah, when the Crosstown was the Eglinton-Scarborough Crosstown, that was very ideal and a good plan, but now that a subway extension is in the works, let's not go back to this debate again. This is another reason why I like candidates like John Tory and Karen Stintz; they don't want to reopen this debate again. Both are pushing for a Relief Line as the top transit project. To me, that is smart and forward thinking.

Chow and Soknacki really should give up this silly campaign promise that the LRT plan will come back and will be approved across the board. Both should accept the subway extension and just propose new transit lines in the city's east end to go along with the subway.

I promise they won't matter, if they did Sheppard would get a subway. And after the provincial election (which is what I was referring too) anything can happen.

The only thing that could change with this trying Scarborough transit debate is if the NDP win a majority government which will not happen. The subway is coming.

After the provincial election if the Liberals somehow get a majority they are safe until 2019. Anything can happen. We could end up with Sheppard and Danforth Subway for all I know.
