While we are seeing lots of frequency increases and a few new routes and airlines we just got hit with another airline pulling out.

AeroMexico will discontinue their MEX-YYC flight in April.

At least we have WestJet starting MEX 4x weekly as of March 14th and then it goes daily April 29th.

Their prices weren’t great transferring to elsewhere and how much O&d is there that wouldn’t rather moving through a hub but having 10 departure times.

Is westjet partnering with a local airline down there?

Air Canada making some changes to the Winter '18/19 schedule to OGG and CUN, this kicks in November 2018:

YYC-OGG Going to 4x weekly on Mainline 737 Max 8 (currently 3x weekly rouge 767)

YYC-CUN 3x weekly no change on Mainline 737 Max 8 (currently 3x weekly rouge 767)

Unfortunately this translates into a loss of capacity on both routes. With WestJet taking deliveries of the 737 MAX I wonder if we'll see them switch the YYC-Hawaii flights from the current 767's to the 737 MAX also?

I wonder if they noticed status customers avoiding rouge at all costs. With so much competition from Westjet in the value segment, maybe go for some yield or loyalty instead. If there is demand, easy to ramp up to daily with continued Max deliveries.

It wouldn't surprise me if they went to the Max instead of the 767. Just because of the age difference in the aircraft, and the better efficiency from the Max. Maybe the 767's will show up in Swoop colors?

Today AC did finalize the plans for next winter, but they also threw in YYC-PSP daily on an A320:

YYC - PSP: NEW daily A320
YYC - PVR: increase to 4x weekly A320
YYC - SJD: increase to 3x weekly A320
YYC - PHX: increase to daily A320
YYC - OGG: 4x weekly MAX 8
YYC - CUN: 3x weekly MAX 8

It’s crazy how little flying AC does to sun destinations out of YYC. That’s the equivalent of 4 daily flights. Guess WS rules the roost in Calgary

When you put it that way, no they don't do they. That's not even as even as many as the winter schedule of daily overseas flights (London x 3, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Beijing)

Nice to see those Max 8 rolling in and out.
