Re: Robert Fung Leaving TWRC/Central Waterfront Designs

TWRC could commission both firms for those areas of their proposals.

I can see where you're coming from Anti, but I'm not sure I agree.

Re: Robert Fung Leaving TWRC/Central Waterfront Designs

Any bets? I think it'll be West 8. I'll miss the Foster concept, though.

Re: And the winner is....

Alright, I'll get in on this. =0) I say Foster wins it. But I'll be there to boo the winner, just in case. ;0)

Re: Robert Fung Leaving TWRC/Central Waterfront Designs

thanks for the info FutureMayor

Re: And the winner is....

I say use both Foster's water drop piers and West 8's wooden slips and bridges (with their "Lighting from HELL").

Anybody else going to the press conference tomorrow at 2:30?

Re: Robert Fung Leaving TWRC/Central Waterfront Designs

The Foster plan was okay...but too much of it seemed to be just potential, dependent on the private sector.

West 8, with some changes, looks to be the best choice and will probably win.

Re: Robert Fung Leaving TWRC/Central Waterfront Designs

Weren't they announcing the winner today?
They were, but more politicos wanted to be part of the photo op and look real cool in shades.

Re: Robert Fung Leaving TWRC/Central Waterfront Designs

Louroz, I'll try to step away from work for half an hour and be there for the announcement. I don't think I'll be able to go through the rest of the day wondering who was chosen.

I also think West 8 will get it. It's conservative, very Toronto and deals with the issues that need to be dealt with. However, we've been surprised by certain choices made recently that challenge Toronto, namely Libeskind's ROM and Alsop's OCAD. If the judges are in that same spirit, Lord Norman Foster's design could be the chosen one.
