Wegmans?Thank you for your very in depth response! Much appreciated.
When I went to Rochester, NY and went in their grocery stores, I couldn't believe the selection. They had an entire aisle of ice cream on both sides, with like 75% of each products flavour range. And don't get me started on the cereal aisle!
Yes Wegmans.Wegmans?
I haven't noticed particularly larger assortments in US grocery stores except maybe Meijers (more like a supercentre). They have more depth for sure in things like cereal and cookies (a dozen kinds of oreos, etc.).
Someone on facebook says they talked to someone on site and were told not to expect it to open for another month or so.
Right next door to the SDM. Nice. Not downtown, but this seems the most apt place to put this...........
Cliffcrest Plaza..........once home to a Foodland supermarket.........which was lost some years ago....
Is getting a new, mini No Frills.

This may be a of particular interest to @TwinHuey as its not too far from him.
Empire appears to be completely pulling the Sobeys banner from the City of Toronto.
We've seen it shrink dramatically the last couple of years with many locations flipping to Farm Boy, we've all seen the renders for one of the two Etobicoke stores on Queensway flipping to Longos.........
I can now confirm that the Leaside location, arguably their Toronto flagship for the brand will close this July and reopen in 2025 as Farm Boy.
That will leave only 4 full-line Sobeys in Toronto, and four urban fresh stores.
Of those, we know Balliol will be developed, I expect the same for Broadview and Danforth; the former, may just get a brand changeover first.
That would cut the number of full-line stores to just 2 in Etobicoke; (I'm being generous calling Bloor full line, but I digress) ........... and then 3 Urban Fresh stores.
I don't see them keeping the banner in Toronto for that.
Did swing by this location last week. It's a bit cramped in spots, even moreso than the location next to Scotiabank Theatre on Richmond. It's an ok size and has everything you'd expect for a smaller location but I felt like there were tight spaces in spots and it wasn't busy.75 The Esplanade at Church
No Frills.
Is there still a Sobey's near Main Subway station? The reopening date was bumped up considerably. Farm Boy Leaside opens next week, December 12th.

According to Blog T.O. "The project team states that the grocery store "holds a long-term lease on the site, and it will be many years before redevelopment can occur." https://www.blogto.com/real-estate-toronto/2024/11/2451-danforth-avenue-toronto/Yes, which is the subject of a development application, for which we have a thread.
