IIRC there were initial plans for an LRT bridge along that route but that was kiboshed by the folks who live in the Valleyview neighborhood (e.g. Daryl Katz).

Now, the city still has plans for a BRT bridge in the long-term transit network.

The banks on the east side are very unstable. West side not so much but there would be a lot of houses that would need to be moved. Hell when the foot bridge was planned the outcry was quite loud.

Valleyview and Glenora are NIMBY hives, I'm shocked they're even able to build homes there with how ferally the residents oppose everything. The east side banks thing is interesting, haven't heard that. Is that why Keillor Road collapsed?

A likely one that has been often talked about is to replace the High Level, which I assume would probably include vehicles, pedestrians and transit as it is talked about mostly related to high speed or inter city rail.
Of course, the timing of the rail part isn't really up to the city.

Thinking a HLB replacement isn't in the cards for a long, long time. The upcoming rehab claims to add 75 years to its lifespan.

I don't think the High Level will be replaced. I think there may be a new bridge that will carry vehicles, public transit and HSR while the current bridge will be retained for pedestrians, cyclists and the railcar.

I didn't say the bridge would be removed, but if another bridge takes on some or all of these things (maybe both will have pedestrian use), then I would say it has been replaced.
Of course as also noted, the timing is likely contingent on high speed or inter city rail happening. I expect that will be much faster than 75 years from now, but I suppose we don't know when yet.
Finally, I seem to recall the last refurbishment was around 30 years ago and now another is needed, so 75 years may be very optimistic for use continuing as is. Especially if a new bridge is built nearby.

Gondola. Connect to misecordia/WEM. Then to health sciences. Stop at the zoo/wilfred Laurier.
Could do an extension from uni area, across the river to 124th street area too (VLW connection).

I doubt Katz is in Edmonton more than 7 days in any year. Likely has USA citizenship just like Gretzky.

Yup. If you look that bank is always dropping something. End of the road was the major one. Bank slump and pushed along by the Keeler road stabilisation. If you go out to Terwilliger there was a whole neighbourhood that collapsed a number of years back. Any of the high bank areas that drop straight into the river are unstable.

If that's true, I'm surprised people are building such expensive places in Patricia Heights/Rio Terrace.
