Here's hoping that HBC decides to test a larger-format Zellers store (and not just a pop-up as in Kingsway) on the upper floor of the downsizing Hudson's Bay. 60,000 square feet on the top level would be perfect.

I've always assumed that the Zellers test was going to lead to HBC flipping some of its poorer-performing Hudson's Bay stores over to the revived discount banner. Londonderry would be a perfect opportunity to test that in the Edmonton market. And unlike at Kingsway Zellers wouldn't be going up against a large Walmart in the same mall.

I really like the CWB tower atrium renovation. I just hope that the flower bed gets maintained regularly and doesn't get destroyed by delinquents.

not sure if anyone posted but there looks to be a new cafe/resto space opening up directly behind sepps/ace coffee in garneau with a large patio. It doesn't look like a house to me.

^ Very nice. I think it is just residential though if it's the property directly behind. They have a permit for a "rear addition to a single detached house".

I don't understand why more buildings don't put nice fences to protect and define these areas like they used to. Unfortunately, I see this becoming a shortcut for those who have no care or respect for private property.

I agree, some of this surplus space would be a perfect place for a Zellers.
