I followed the links, it seems what they are tearing down is the building behind the Grand Union Hotel. The one with the boring rectangular windows.
Yes, LPCI. The site of that hotel has been a parking lot for about 10 years.

Thank you. I love these forums. I spend my time counting windows, checking locations of hydro poles and fire hydrants (replaced but rarely moved), studying roof lines, going to Google Earth for a current view, going to other sites for older views, researching for myself further on a topic raised, etc. And other’s insights.
 
That castle-like building at the corner of Yonge and College is where I had my first job at age 16.
I'm amazed by the recent additions to that neighbourhood.
