You can get travel insurance. The company I use has confirmed coverage, even during a travel advisory and a pandemic.

as for quarantine, it depends where you are going. Different states have different requirements.

March 21, 2020 - The United States will temporarily limit inbound land border crossings from Canada and Mexico to “essential travel”.

Mt father in law is at Sunnybrook Veteran's Centre, which has had an outstanding track record during this whole thing but they recently posted a notice that they are working towards re-started outside travel and group escorted excursions (road trips) for residents. We have told them he is not to be included in any of these activities. Way too early for such a vulnerable group.

No issues with flying. I know people who have gone on vacation, knowing they have to isolate when they get home. For some reason, the US allows you to fly in but not to drive in. Entry to Canada is restricted by air and by land.
 
I'm getting my last patio night out tonight, the weather is also getting colder so there's that too. May do some daytime patios but will stick with mostly takeout and deliveries afterwards.

Toronto gives green light for portable heaters on CafeTO patios

While it’s starting to feel like fall, Toronto is allowing for patios participating in its CafeTO program to install portable heaters.

The city on Friday announced plans to streamline its patio heater process and remove some red tape in an effort to keep outdoor dining spaces open longer and provide support to local restaurants that have taken a financial hit from COVID-19.

“We are doing everything we can to support our local restaurant industry,” Mayor John Tory said in a statement.

“I heard this request from the restaurant industry and took action to help allow portable heaters to safely keep CafeTO installations and patios warm, even in late October and November, to help extend the season. I want to thank city staff for working to find a way to make this possible to help restaurants as much as we can right now.”

Portable heating devices, such as propane heaters, will be allowed on all outdoor patio types in Toronto, including sidewalks and curb lane cafes. The guidelines for safe use developed by Toronto Fire Services will be available to patio and cafe operators Friday and must be followed by restaurant staff, the city said.

Locations will be monitored for safe use and enforced by city bylaw officers and Toronto Fire Services staff. Before, there were numerous documents and applications required for heaters on patios to be approved. The new Fire Services’ guidelines streamline that process and the documentation is no longer required at this time.

Some examples of the guidelines include only using heaters that meet federal and provincial safety requirements, installing and storing units per the manufacturer’s instructions, and removing heaters from the curb lane when the cafe is not in use. Tents and structures are not permitted in the curb lane closure areas.

The city is also launching an online survey to get feedback from both local restaurant operators about the CafeTO program and its patrons.

I loathe patios, partly because of the noise (I mean, Eataly at the corner of Bay and Bloor?? Ugh) and partly because at this time of the year, I seem to be a magnet for bees, as if they knew all about my allergy.

Wasps in my backyard were a pita. Until I got this at Bass Pro at Vaughan Mills, https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bug-a-salt-20-salt-gun


Though you can‘t take that to the restaurant patio, lol.
