You mean policies of a halfwit? We have several councillors that are much larger fiscal conservatives, smarter fiscal conservatives, and fiscal conservatives that could actually achieve their promises without turning everything into an 'us vs them' dog-and-pony show.

Many of his policies do not make sense - most notably the free 'private sector' subways built by 2015 promise. So to judge him by his policies is throwing your vote away in favour of dillydallying and stagnation of progress.

Couldn't agree more, but there are some people who won't be convinced. Believe me, I've tried.

The truth is, unfortunately, that many people will support Ford no matter what. I know a TTC bus driver who dislikes the Ford brothers on a personal level (especially their pretensions of being "middle-class Average Joes"), but she thinks Rob Ford's policies make him a great mayor. She also thinks we need a subway in Scarborough, never mind that the Sheppard line is underused and that it spectacularly failed to fulfill its promise of attracting jobs to the area. Her rationale is that all politicians are corrupt liars, so who cares what Rob Ford does in his spare time, let's just judge him by his policies. And if he lies about minor stuff like "$1 billion in savings" for the city, well, that's to be expected as well.

In my experience, hardcore Ford supporters will typically respond to any criticism of Ford with one of the following lines:
- "Most scrutinized mayor ever!"
- "Leave him alone and let him do his job."
- "He's a man of the people!"

That sums it up pretty nicely.

Everything that's being reported on now is something they're not at all aware of. It's just part of the media conspiracy to 'get him'.

I suspect that it will be different when it's the police "scrutinizing" him.

In an aside: this'd make a nifty scheme for a new City Hall for Toronto under Ford. And, no overpriced Platner chairs...

Couple of things:

For Doug Ford to say he checked with police acquaintances regarding the provenance of the plane and then to recant that account almost the next day defies credibility and also suggests that he put his foot in his mouth by mentioning the police (and may have been pressured to withdraw his statement).

It doesn't make sense that the Star would own a plane like that. How many stories involve aerial surveillance? Not enough to warrant owning or leasing a plane, unless the Star is doing aerial cartography on the side.

It's interesting that Doug Holyday weighed in on Lisi and Bahrami, as if to distance himself from the Fords and the dubious characters in their orbit. A dry cleaner that takes five months to get your jacket back to you and overcharges you as well sounds a lot like someone whose priorities are something other than actual dry cleaning.

I think Doug Ford put his foot in his mouth when he stated two TPS superintendents confirmed to him Police were indeed flying over the Ford house. I suspect (but don't know) that one of the superintendents is Ford family friend Supt Ron Taverner who must be in a lot of hot water right now!

If confirmed that two TPS officers revealed details of a secret surveillance operation to the brother of the intended target - both men could lose their jobs. I was not surprised that Doug walked back his previous statements.

Today the media was busy again asking Bill Blair to confirm or deny that Rob Ford is the target of a police investigation. Of course Blair cannot answer one way or the other. What the media should have been asking Blair is what is he doing about these two superintendents who - it appears - are guilty of a major transgression. Have they been suspended pending an investigation?

When he is jail, will his supporters still vote for him? Perhaps they appreciate the fact that he is flawed., And the more flaws he shows, the better they feel about themselves.

The Toronto SUN is reporting on the new revelations about Lisi recovering Fords lost cell phone.

It seems to be based on their own investigations - as opposed to repeating what the Star printed - which means that they must also have sources inside TPS leaking details of this investigation.

The SUN article provides new details on the evidence seized during the raid on the dry-cleaners.

You're a smart guy. I'm sure you and the rest of us know

Another, and more hilarious theory. Perhaps he had some private photos that he didn't want people to know about? Not necessarily drugs, but photos of an intimate nature...

Thought of this when thinking of the classic Simpsons scene: "My son is NOT a neo-nazi. He maybe fat, a liar, a drunk, a sexual deviant, a junkie, employ mafia hitmen, a neo-nazi, but he is NOT a porn star!

At least until the sex tape is leaked...

In seriousness, there was something on that phone that he didn't want any chance of the police knowing about.

In all honesty, I immediately looked forward to your reaction when I saw that picture on the weekend. I hope it makes it into your regular rotation of the rogues' gallery.

That picture is beyond NSFW. Mere language is an insufficiently visceral to describe the shame and sickness I experienced seeing that picture.

Aerial cartography is widely available. I doubt that TorStar owns a survey plane. TorStar however has a GIS department. Yes, I know GIS very well, as someone who is currently studying GIS.
