Don't think Rob has a criminal record. The DUI in Florida was a misdemeanor.

Since when doesn't a misdemeanour count as a criminal record? In Canada the equivalent of a misdemeanour - a summary conviction offence - most certainly counts as part of your criminal record.

I can't see anything on his Wiki about him founding Deco labels, just that he was the owner before entering politics.

Also good on whoever added the part about Doug Ford Jr.

Agreed but I would replace the word "disputed" with "denied". To say DoFo "disputed the report" (that he sold hash) sounds like he took some sort of formal steps or action. To say he "denied the report" reveals that all he did was bluster about it.

I just added references to that history to the Wikipedia entries for him and DoFo Sr. We'll see how long that lasts.

As of this moment, the relevant part for Doug Sr now reads as follows:

Ford was born in Toronto, to a large family, and lived on the Danforth area of East York, Ontario.[SUP][4]

[/SUP]Ford was a businessman who founded Deco Adhesive Products Limited of Rexdale, Ontario. He and his wife, Diane had four children: Doug, Randy, Kathy and Rob.[SUP][5][/SUP][SUP][6][/SUP] Rob is the current Mayor of Toronto and a former councillor. Doug Ford, Jr., a former hash dealer,[SUP][7][/SUP] is the current City Councillor for Ward 2 - Etobicoke North, Rob Ford's old council seat. Randy Ford is co-owner of Deco Labels and runs the operations in the absence of Doug Ford Jr, who was President of the firm before becoming City Councillor.[SUP][8][/SUP]

As can be seen, the edited version re the swimming myth did not last long - but at least no one has edited the text back into its previous state.

As to what is there now, IIRC the shares of Deco are owned by a holding company named after Doug Sr. (Doug Ford Holdings Ltd.) the shares of which are held by the trustees of the Ford family trust (Diane & her sons) or by the executors of Doug Sr.'s estate (Diana & one or more of her sons), or a combintion of the two, so that, strictly, neither Randy nor Doug (the text seems to imply - altho' it does not state - that Doug is the other owner) actually is an owner.

I just added references to that history to the Wikipedia entries for him and DoFo Sr. We'll see how long that lasts.

When this first came up the other day during the discussion on how Doug Sr. got a park named after him due to his one-time MPP-ness and (somewhat puffed up) status in the community, I noticed some similarities between Doug Sr. and Doug Jr.'s profiles (initially I thought maybe son was cribbing from dad lol), including the mention of Rotary's Paul Harris Fellowship Doug Sr.'s bio describes the PHF as "an honour given to Rotarians who have demonstrated outstanding community leadership." Doug Jr. calls the PHF an "award" "the highest award you can receive in Rotary for Outstanding service to your community". Well, not according to the Rotarians (although there do seem to be a few clubs out there who have adopted the "award" status like Doug). While Doug Sr.'s description appears semi not untrue, Doug Jr.'s seems to be pretty much the opposite of what a PHF is all about (go figure). From http://www.rotaryd9710.org.au/foundation/paul-harris-fellows/paul-harris-fellow-meaning.html (which is Australian, but Rotary is International, right?)

Some of the misconceptions or misunderstanding surrounding a Paul Harris Fellow are:
  • There is no such thing as a Paul Harris Fellowship, and it is not an award; it is simply recognition. When a Club contributes $US1000 to The Rotary Foundation, the Club sets its own criteria for naming a Paul Harris Fellow. Usually this is done to recognise an outstanding commitment to the Club or the community.
  • A personal contribution of $US1000 and the subsequent recognition of a Paul Harris Fellow should be encouraged not criticised; it is a donation to The Rotary Foundation, Rotary’s own charity and, therefore, every Rotarian’s own charity.
  • Recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow was never intended to be an award and certainly is not Rotary International’s highest award, although it is an honour to be named a Paul Harris Fellow.
  • Honorary Membership is the highest distinction that a Club may bestow on a Rotarian and should only be bestowed in exceptional cases for meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals and for support of the Rotary cause.
  • Club Presidents may also award one Avenues of Service Citation each year to a Club Rotarian.
  • The highest award an individual Rotarian can receive is the Service Above Self Award; only a maximum of 150 are awarded each year by the Board of Rotary International.
  • Being named a Paul Harris Fellow is not unique. There are over one million Paul Harris Fellows worldwide.

So really anyone can be a PHF if they donate $1000, have $1000 donated on their behalf (from Deco <cough>).

I personally know nothing of the ins and outs of the Rotary Club, but Doug Jr.'s padding of his resume compared to ol' Dad's is just...well, seems typical Ford.

"Herriott" had two "t"s in an earlier post, which is correct?

So the Escalade has been removed, after the plates were put on, but so far nobody knows who picked it up.

All that media camped out, and no one could identify who picked it up?

Sheesh, I guess we'll have to wait until the Escalade tweets about it.
