And you wonder why so many people fucking hate the TTC.

Most of the workers are assholes to begin with. They fucking pushed all the people off the bus like useless sheep. They couldn't even finish the full route leaving people stranded in areas far away from home.

I have no sympathy for TTC workers at all and they deserve every little bit of all the abuse they receive from angry TTC customers.

Yup, I will not be taking the TTC again, save for emergencies. I'm sick and tired of being jerked around and used as a pawn. I'm also tired of the constant fare hikes so that i can have the privelege of putting up with rude, and grumpy TTC employees. No way in hell i'm going to pay MORE money for this.

The timing of the strike is no coincidence, the Union wanted maximum effect and panic to ensure they get what they want.

"They fucking pushed all the people off the bus like useless sheep. They couldn't even finish the full route leaving people stranded in areas far away from home."

THAT is screwed up right there.

I'm so fucking angry right now. I thought they promised 48 hour warnings. They're full of shit. I officially HATE TTC and their employees. What more do they want? It seems like they get paid VERY WELL and have all the benefits in the world. Fuckin little bitches!!!! I gotta be at work tomorrow morning which is quite the distance from my home. I'm currently not driving so I'm royally fucked.

I feel for you man. There will be a lot of people in your situation. Hopefully something will be worked out in time for you to get to work.

This kind of panic is exactly what the union was aiming for.

I think they should just install plastic boxes around each ttc employee and when service starts nobody should pay to use it. Just walk right on. If they try and stop you just tell them you pay for it already. And then when they go and try and stop you, scream and say your being threatened by ttc employees and I guarantee the public will stand behind you. Job security is bullshit. It never exists. It's called Kill or be killed. If I don't improve my skills there is no reason why I shouldn't expect to be fired or handed off to someone else.

I worked in a union shop for 10 years and skills meant squat. You could have an inferior skilled worker on a job and have a vastly more skilled employee RIGHT BESIDE HIM, and he wouldn't be allowed to perform that job.

The common mentality was that the more years an employee had, the LESS work they were entitled to. It's all about entitlement, they think they're entitled to everything. It was disgusting.

The reason the TTC are a bunch of assholes is because their Strike isn't going to Affect the people that have the power to bow down to their will.

It effects the Poor and the most vulnerable - seniors, students, blind, deaf, crazies, or carless which is my case, etc...anyone who relies on the TTC to function in life, who are not driving their fucking BMW to city council that's affected.

These TTC employees threaten almost every single year to strike, and are getting paid a lot of money to do an EASY job.
I wish they could just scrap their Union and tell em, 'Hey, those of you who want to keep your jobs you can come back, if not you can do what 99 percent of the Rest of us have to do when we want to Strike = GET FIRED'.

Thank god I didn't go out to a club tonight. I got off the phone with one of my friends who is stranded downtown now at this time. It's a 3 hour wait to get a cab. It's chaos down there around the entertainment district.

How disgustingly irresponsible. Stranding tens of thousands of young people at the side of the road at midnight on a Friday night... who could possibly think this is a smart move? If the drivers were tired of the abuse before this is certainly not going to make anything better. Negotiations mean that BOTH SIDES give a little. I'm the most polite person you'll ever meet in public, but let me tell you, if I was to encounter a TTC driver today I would have a very difficult time keeping my mouth shut.

So the drivers are organized... what about the riders? Is there someone out there with good organizational skills who can arrange a rally or protest of some sort by us riders? I can imagine thousands of angry riders gathering en mass to make OUR grievances known, peacefully and within eye/earshot of the striking drivers. Let's do it.

Well, since they've rejected a rather generous proposal and decided to go on strike, I think it's fair game for the city to be nasty when they do decide to come back to the bargaining table. No job protection, no full pay for sick leave, pay raise par inflation, merit pay, contracting out, layoffs, etc should all be on the table.

Comments like "______ should be shot" are not helpful.
did they stop the buses/streetcars at midnight and tell everyone to get out?
That's what I heard, yes.

Not only should someone be shot, but they should be shot twice.

Its sad to see this happen but people must get a grip. Its only a means of transportation. Its not the end of the world. Some say that the transit workers should not have the right to strike but sorry they are not a truly essiential service. Everyone has the right to not work if they dont want to. There are many other ways to get around. The TTC is not that clean and the last time I was on it I thought I was in the 3rd world. The smell and cramming of people was horrible. Many people on TV right now are pissed and one lady says that she has relatives visiting and now they cant go anywhere. PLEEEEEASE... Its beautifull outside... Go for a walk and stop WHINNING!
For those that think $3.00 is too much.....you have to be kidding. A beer at any bar cost way more and you want to play less to ride right across the city? OK now...On the other hand the TTC union is too strong and they waste a lot. We now see rusted out ttc buses and streetcars in service. I always hear stories from workers that get paid for 8 hours work and do maybe 4 hours work maintaining the vehichles. All in all this city is being run by a bunch of socialists that do not know what they are doing. A 3% raise over many years is ridiculous and the city should now play hard ball and retract their offer an give them the cost of living only period and if the union holds out then after 4 weeks start running a limited schedule of buses and streetcars with management while running a huge recruitment.
