Does this also apply to Mayors?I think transporting people to/from work is more important than transporting people to/from the bar. Work is people's livelihoods. Drinking is just leisure.

TTC Union President Bob Kinnear said the incident is being blown out of proportion.
“It’s not that big of a deal,” he said. “We do this [driver relief] thousands upon thousands of times a week without any problems.”

But only if they have a "C" license (regular bus with designed seating capacity for more than 24 passengers), and 2 or less demerit points & no more than 2 traffic offences.
Bloody hell, Bob Kinnear.

ATU 113 needs to find someone from the bus operations side - someone who has dealt with the public - to lead their union or at least be their spokesperson. Kinnear came from the maintenance side of the local, who don't deal with the public and are far more militant. The 2006 illegal wildcat strike was about a grievance over changing the shifts of some custodial workers - but took the whole city of Toronto hostage (and got away with it too). The ATU promised in 2008 48 hours notice before walking off the job, but instead gave less than two hours and blamed "unruly and abusive" customers for going on his word.
Time to throw Bob Kinnear under the bus, ATU workers who give a s**t.
That was Kinnear's point. It usually works well so let's not go crazy over one screw-up.Thousands upon thousands of times a week? That's a lot of driver relief! And during those thousands upon thousands of times, are vehicles left empty with passengers on board?
Sure, I see driver relief all the time -- one driver gets out, another gets in, and off we go. Takes a minute. Completely different scenario than what was reported yesterday.
Interesting. At first, I thought it was Photoshopped. Yes, I know that they are for those with physical disabilities.

In a breathtaking display of political opportunism, mayoral candidate (and former TTC Chair) Karen Stintz attempted to highjack an unexpected “surplus” from 2013 transit operations to pay for a fare freeze in 2015.
TTC routes are going to be renumbered: http://stevemunro.ca/?p=9780
Here is the tentative list: http://stevemunro.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/TTC_20140622_RouteNameChanges.pdf
