Depending on whether the fun police would permit loading while the car is curved

Why not? That's what happens at Union, the entire platform is on a sharp curve. With the LFLRVs it's not an issue since they have cameras at all of the doors and around the exterior in general.

Union could be regarded as grandfathered in. This would likely be a different story for anything new or upgraded.

I can't see much/any change to the bus setup - too many routes going into Broadview to bother messing with it.

One reason to move the 505 DUNDAS east terminal from BROADVIEW station to the future GERRARD station on the Relief Line, at Gerrard & Pape/Carlaw (via Dundas Street East to either Pape or Carlaw). To make room for the Flexity for the 504 KING at BROADVIEW, and construct a better transfer platform for the Flexities for the 505 DUNDAS and maybe 506 CARLTON (short turn) at GERRARD.

Excellent idea and that actually might be the plan, which would allow two 504 streetcars to park at all time at Broadview while providing more service east on Gerrard.

However, would the TTC consider the following:
  • Relief Line Station @ Dundas & Pape
  • 505 Dundas ending at Dundas East Subway Station

I don't think they could use both platforms for the same streetcar. Which tunnel would one exit out of? There'd be a lot of people running back and forth trying to guess which one leaves first. Someone will get run over. Also, the Waterfront East EA called for the 524 Broadview streetcar to run into Broadview station.

However, would the TTC consider the following:
  • Relief Line Station @ Dundas & Pape
  • 505 Dundas ending at Dundas & Pape Relief Line Station
  • They already have, haven't they?

Nope, no Dundas East Station which explain the gap between Queen and Gerrard. However, it would require lots of expropriation unless they get creative to find a way to have only "subway stairs entrances" at Pape and Dundas and replicate St.Clair West Streetcar loop under Dundas to meet the subway.

In the interim... If they take away from the parking lot (northwest corner), they'll just lose a whopping eight (8) parking spaces, to allow for an extension of the streetcar tracks. A lose of 1.3 people per car, 10.4 people. OH! The UPROAR!

As we see in the above photo, there is very little parking spaces left if we remove that corner from the available parking... not! (Most go for the "free" parking on the street, first.)

They might have no choice. Also, an operational Relief line might change the routes like this:
  • 504 King ends at Sumach Subway Station
  • 505 Dundas either ends at Broadview Station or merge on Gerrard to the Smarttrack/GO Station
  • New Broadview Streetcar from Broadview Station to terminate at Queen's Quay, later loops in the Portlands

But they have. It hasn't been mentioned in the DRL consultation - as there hasn't been anything since June. But in the SmartTrack update to City Council in November, they dropped this tidbit:

Now, this is talking about the Gerrard GO Train (aka SmartTrack) station - but they'll connect - and in theory the SmartTrack station gets built first.

Thanks for the documents. I was referring about adding a subway station at Pape and Dundas but yes, they brought up extending the 505 to Gerrard GO Station. Streetcar would most likely go north at Carlaw

If they were to switch to a Pape alignment instead of the proposed Carlaw alignment, there's only about 600 metres from the south end of the Gerrard platform, to the north end of the Queen/Pape platform. If you drop a 200 metre platform in at Dundas, you'd only have 200 metres between stations! Too close together.

Of course, the 505 DUNDAS could do an on-street loop, without an off-street terminal, on Dundas Street East, Carlaw Avenue (north), Gerrard Street East (east), Pape Avenue (south), and returning via Dundas Street East. The same loop could be used for a short turn 506 Carlton. However, likely they'll want to build a BIG off-street terminal instead of on-street transfers.

The 505 Dundas should be terminated, in the event of future 504 Flexties, as far east Broadview, then south to Queen, then west on Queen and King, then south on Sumach to Distillery Loop.
