Doug has no chance of winning the PC leadership, or even running for it. His only political experience is one term as a city councillor, he doesn't hold a seat (so how could he be leader of the opposition? He wouldn't be able to enter the House), and his riding went strongly Liberal. Logistically, theoretically, etc, he's not even an option.

He's just doing it for the attention and the free press. It's like how Donald Trump muses about running for president every four years

Did Doug turn up on CP24 last night? I thought I read something about being on a panel or commenting?

Amazing to watch, isn't it? Real-time revisionism with zero traces of shame or finesse. He will just say anything, at any time, to anyone, so long as he thinks it will benefit him and/or screw someone else.

Doug was (is still?) the top salesman @Deco so that is not entirely surprising.

How is that an issue? Numerous Federal and Provincial leaders have taken over their parties without having a seat. While they are not on the floor of the they can direct direct things from the galleries. Often a member will step aside for the leader to run in a by-election.

As long as the party doesn't withdraw his membership or privately threaten to release embarrassing material Doug could run. Personally, it would be fun if Doug ran and more dirt was flung onto his already soiled image.

Think Deco is bad now, imagine the cash being sucked out of the company by Rob's reelection campaign and Doug's leadership bid. Slurp.

Because generally in order to win an election you need to have experience on the floor with policy. While yes, occasionally, that can happen, it's not a smart political move, at all. It also helps to be able to counter act your opposition's points on the floor, through policy, etc. While it is possible, it is not likely (like incredibly unlikely. I also would like you to give examples of Premiers who have never held a provincial seat since you seem so certain it's happened "numerous" times). Not to mention the fact that it would alienate many MPP's who have served the PCs for years and put in their time who are way more deserving of the leadership (like Christine Elliot for example). His dad was a one term back bencher. The Ford's don't actually have the political experience/reputation they think they do.

Seriously think about it. It is not even remotely possible.

RoDoFo has very little political capital left to bring to the table - back in 2010, 2011, maybe...but all that has been poured down the drain by his little brother (and his own questionable past). He is a liability - not an asset - and it would be highly doubtful for him to lead anyone, especially knowing association with his name can potentially translate into a career ending stain.

And let's not forget the extreme level of public exposure RoDoFo so wanted now works against him - someone this notorious can't simply disappear. An enema might help, but you bet the stench would remain.

Just to add... The constant flow of easily provable untruths that falls out of Doug's mouth daily don't help his cause. He is a lying liar who lies. Badly.

Now that many people automatically assume that he is lying, it will be harder to bullshit customers. Though he has too much hubris to see this and it is going to hurt business at Deco once this political folly winds down.

Oh and let's not forget the Fords use compatriots in the worst ways - remember how Del Grande and others were left to hang there and dry just so that he can look more conservative than they are? I am sure it'd be a real popular move as a party leader.
